Whenever these topics come up there's a whole group of people who seem completely oblivious to the fact that seeing someone else get for free what you worked for is going to piss some people off. It doesn't need to be embraced, nor do I think it's the right response for this particular issue, but it's a pretty natural reaction.

I'm sure progress hurts people's feelings. After all, there were generations that didn't have things like labor laws, Social Security or women's suffrage. They must've been pretty mad when newer generations got these benefits, when they had to suffer without them. I mean, the younger people need to suffer like the older people did. It'll build character.

I kinda hate this just because it's close enough for me to imagine it, and yet I realistically know that it won't pass.

I have $10k~ left to pay off, and the idea of that being erased sounds amazing. Just removing the monthly payments would be a really big burden lifted, but I know that it'll never happen.

it began with fraud schools who broke contract, forced students to sign up for loans, lots of shady stuff that never should have happened. Created a rabbit hole, found more schools for fraud and then found out about. BEtsy Devos.

Then other people started saying their loans were too high.

there are two camps in this situation, those who were defrauded, and those who have predatory loans. Some fall into both.
