I don't NEED this as I have a good amount of savings...but it will help my brother who is already barely making ends meet before the crisis. And several family members had coworkers I know who are out of jobs because of this.

And a lot of people who are already fucked before this by our broken ass college/medical systems.

It will certainly be nice getting the free money though especially as my hours just got slashed. My savings will increase instead of decreasing

It's a suspension, not a forgiveness. It's basically saying you dont have to pay now and there wont be any penalties but once this is over then you still gotta start paying back again. If people were going to go on a spree because of this then they were going to go on a spree anyway because it's really no different than how credit cards typically work, they're just giving you more time

That's assuming they already posses cards with decent credit limits and likely the bank wont be handing ANY out now within the next few months.

And if they do still the limits will probably be very low and exempt from increasing.

They can get infected with COVID-19. They could spread it. It's better for the population as a whole if they get off the streets and be quarantined.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I'm thinking it'll be easier and more efficient to give everyone the money as opposed to trying to filter out who doesn't need the money and who's still working. Plus, the goal is to get people to spend money to keep the economy moving. As someone who still has his job, we should be fine.

I really don't get the credit card part at all. If you're getting $2000 free money you don't need the ability to accumulate more credit card debt to get through this. If you're saying it's for payments on debt they already owe, then I have to wonder how much in debt they are in that the $2000 a month won't get them through their minimum payments. You are either very wealthy or already bankrupt.

I just wish they would tell lenders to refinance loans without income requirements. We always pay on time and can technically continue to do so, but lower payments sure would be nice while my husband is unemployed (not because of the virus, but still. And our "safety net" of investments took a huge hit).

This is good.
