outbreaks here in the US.

Many people who are contagious are asymptomatic, and the virus survives on surfaces for hours per reporting.

Could more have been done early? Yes, absolutely. But let's be realistic. Tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people enter and leave our borders daily. All it takes is one or a few people coming in to start rapid spread of this thing.

When there were single digit numbers in america, the CDC specifically said, its not a matter of IF but a matter of TIME before it becomes widespread. This was on the same day that Trump said this is no big deal and we'll get over it.

Trump was acting in the best interest of the markets, trying to create this facade to prevent panic. The markets know that Trump is a fucking idiot and no one listened to him anyways.

So for starters he could've not been spewing bullshit early on. He also could've listened to the CDC and been aggressive at the beginning. Theres still alot of people I talked to who were deniers because of what Trump said. Grantid these people are not smart to begin with.

But declaring a national emergency early on, mobilizing the army corps of engineers to plan out emergency hospitals as needed, telling everyone to stay inside and self quarantine early on could've helped flatten the curve more so than what we have no. Absolutely no doubt he could've done that.

Sure, I criticize him for acting blase about the virus and doing everything he could to downplay the severity of it as much as possible.

"Ehhhh, everything's fine. We're looking great! This is just more bunk the Democrats want to make me look bad over, etc. etc."

And before you get all hot and bothered and claim "WELL, TRUMP DIDN'T SAY THOSE eXaCt WoRdS" it was certainly his attitude towards the outbreak. He should have taken this more seriously. We should have seen a more prompt response, better measures to prevent hoarding, germ-game simulations done more often, we should have been more proactive, not reactive.

like i said, absolutely predictable. CDC literally told us this was gonna happen. As a physician, I did some basic research and I warned all of you guys and all of my friends back in late january that this is gonna spread and its gonna be bad. And I'm just some random civilian. Trump is the fucking president. Theoretically he has the leading experts and top intel in the world. He could've easily gathered up a team of the top epidemiologists / infectious disease doctors and created a plan. Instead he told us that it will magically go away. Then once everyone stopped believing him he put Pence in charge the same guy that caused an HIV outbreak in his own state and refused to do anything about it.

Trumps is absolutely not doing his best. Like I said, he tried creating a facade for the markets and indirectly people will die because of it.

Right now he's doing the absolute bare minimum to survive and not have widespread disapproval.

It would be productive in general to not compare trumps response with some hindsight 20/20 hypothetical response.
We need to be comparing his response to the responses of other leaders who handled the response better. That would resonate with people in a much more effective manner.

He put a science denier in charge of the response, has spent his term surrounding himself with loyal subjects who are barely qualified to do what they're hired to do (and in some cases had already been fired previously for things like embellishing their qualifications on resumes) -- just like they do in Russia --, whenever he's not engaged in televised self-indulgence he's on Twitter slamming the news media, and there was the whole fiasco with the CDC not accepting WHO-approved tests ... AND the US was (I don't know if we still are) testing at much lower rates per capita than virtually any other country.

Yes it's essentially a large scale natural disaster that no human can singlehandedly prevent. But his response has been less than stellar.

Trump is a fucking moron who only started to care once his precious stock market started to tank because the economy has been his only leg to stand on for re-election. We absolutely couldve been better prepared for this and his minimization of the threat continues to inspire people to abandon caution and put themselves and everyone around them in harms way.

Even then, I always said that if that was what the good times are supposed to look like, we were in for a world of hurt when the bad times roll around. Well here we are, in a world of hurt, and its only been a week or two of serious effort.

January 22: We have it totally under control. Its one person coming in from China. Its going to be just fine.

February 2: Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. We cant have thousands of people coming in who may have this problem, the coronavirus. So were gonna see what happens, but we did shut it down, yes.

February 14: We have a very small number of people in the country, right now, with it. Its like around 12. Many of them are getting better. Some are fully recovered already. So were in very good shape.

February 24: The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA Stock Market starting to look very good to me!

February 25: CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.

February 25: I think that's a problem thats going to go away They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, were very close to a vaccine.

February 26: The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.

February 26: We're going very substantially down, not up.

February 27: One day its like a miracle, it will disappear.

February 28: We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.

February 28: Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that, right? Coronavirus, theyre politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, Hows President Trump doing? They go, Oh, not good, not good. They have no clue. They dont have any clue. They cant even count their votes in Iowa. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything. They tried it over and over. Theyd been doing it since you got in. Its all turning. They lost. Its all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.

March 2: You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?

March 2: A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and theyre happening very rapidly.

March 4: If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work some of them go to work, but they get better.

March 5: I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.

March 5: The United States has, as of now, only 129 cases and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!

March 6: I think were doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down a tremendous job at keeping it down.

March 6: Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. Theyre there. And the tests are beautiful. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.

March 6: "You know, my uncle was a great person. He was at MIT. He taught at MIT for, I think, like a record number of years. He was a great super genius. Dr. John Trump. I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it. Every one of these doctors said, 'How do you know so much about this? ' Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president."

March 6: I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.

March 8: We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.

March 9: This blindsided the world.

March 9: "The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power (it used to be greater!) to inflame the CoronaVirus situation, far beyond what the facts would warrant.

March 9: So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!

March 10: "It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."

March 13: National Emergency Declaration

March 13: I don't take responsibility at all

March 13: "For decades the @CDCgov looked at, and studied, its testing system, but did nothing about it. It would always be inadequate and slow for a large scale pandemic, but a pandemic would never happen, they hoped. President Obama made changes that only complicated things further"

March 14: "SOCIAL DISTANCING!"

March 15: "TODAY IS A NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER. GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"

March 15: This is a very contagious virus. Its incredible. But its something that we have tremendous control over.

March 16: If youre talking about the virus, no, thats not under control for any place in the world. ... I was talking about what were doing is under control, but Im not talking about the virus."

March 16: "I'd rate it a 10" (in response to how he rate his handling of the situation)
