I think if Bernie loses the battle here, he is winning the ideological war. People are in favor of his changes even if they think Biden is the pragmatic choice.
Agreed. The Bernie campaign may have died, but the movement will live on

That's what Ron Paul people said and look how that turned out (yikes). The party will find a way to co-opt the movement in a way that makes the majority feel good while not actually changing anything.

I think too much faith may have been placed in the importance of traditional campaign organizing. Biden benefited massively from the media coverage that followed SC and the endorsements from Klobuchar and Buttigieg, and that was enough to overcome his utter lack of a ground game (or even TV ads) in Super Tuesday states.

That's a tough knot to untie on the left going forwards, because we can't just replicate what Biden did.

Good thing none of them will see his changes while we vote in safe people for important reasons like "looking Presidential" and "not being this guy". While we sit back and wait for change to occur at its slow, natural rate or through happenstance, people continue to struggle and suffer. This isn't the Dark Ages. We have the ability to go and make things happen. Everyone is always sick and tired of everything, but that urgency disappears when elections day rolls around

For me, a few hours ago, this campaign came to an end. For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.

I hear Bernie had an awful press team, so there's probably more to it. They definitely seemed to be planning on a fractured field too

Yeah you can clearly tell Sanders had a much bigger impact on the Democrats. I mean ron paul basically just got the house to pass an audit the fed bill

That said you can also clearly see that timing is everything. You have to imagine Bernie would have flamed out had the Democratic party not cleared the lane for a really unpopular person

But go away and co-opt need not be the same. Someone like Warren would be a great candidate to co-opt the movement, or even better someone like Obama who got elevated to progressive status for seemingly no reason.

Movement always needed to be bigger than Bernie. Keep that in mind.

It was one thing that he decided not to give any sort of statement tonight, but I havent received a fundraising email from him and he always sends at least one out on primary nights after polls close

He's already announced his intention to be at the Arizona "debate" Sunday. He's not conceding yet, though that is increasingly a question of "when" rather than "if".

A lack of polling places in ND is standard issue GOP vote suppression; there's not much the Democratic Party can do about it.

The long wait times on campuses in states like CA, though, can be blamed on Democrats.

"Biden won, not by representing the aspirations of Democratic voters, but rather as a culmination of their pessimism about what is politically possible.

A majority of Republicans support Elizabeth Warren's wealth tax. A plurality of Republicans support AOC's 70% marginal rate for people earning more than $10 million per year. The idea that centrists prevailing in primaries means voters are averse to leftist policies isn't borne out by the data.

Moreover, these safe centrist candidates perform poorly in elections. We saw it with Gore, Kerry, and Clinton. Democrats win the presidency when they appeal to the aspirations of their party, rather than the fears their members have of the far-right alternative."

Obama was a certrist some people felt to be progressive, and Clinton was also a centrist. Where are these far left successful Dems in modern politics? I say this as someone who supported Bernie, I don't think you can use precedent for modern elections of Clinton, Kerry, and Gore (actually probably the farthest left on any modern Dem candidate) to say centrists perform poorly.

worth noting that two of three actually won the popular vote and that Gore might have won the electoral college too

and Gore had no real alternative, Bill Bradley was not a serious candidate
