Theyve moved on to online now. You can import designs from the 3DS games using QR codes which is a smart move. Also there is a web service coming later in March.

Feeling better about this game now. I was afraid crafting was going to completely change the dynamic of the game, but it looks like it's mostly an early game thing.

I like the idea of building a town completely from scratch

Yeah that was mostly just rehashing past videos, mentioning some returning features, and QoL updates. Very little on what's really new for this game. The QoL stuff was all pretty cool though, and terraforming is nice. I'm going to assume you can't use it to extend the size of the island and the beach perimeter is off limits for terraforming.

Hopefully the Twitter updates leading up to launch will show new content.

Honestly I feel like that's a smart move. Allows them to still get that content out by the time it's relevant without pushing release date to work on it. No more changing console date to game the system though

I'm left feeling weird about this direct. Like what they showed all looked great, especially towards the end when they were showing glimpses of just how developed the island can look, but also I guess I was just expecting more? At least show us a new villager species or something!

I mean, I'm sure that's not everything the game has in store. At least I hope so, lol. But yeah. It looks great but also I'm disappointed. It's just a weird reaction for me.

Wifi is way more ubiquitous than it was 15 years ago, but I still can't help but think there are going to be some poor kids out there playing a gimped version of the game

I will say though, the new museum looks amazing. And island tours have a lot of potential, but hopefully they actually have variety and aren't all the exact same habitat.

Also RIP Cyrus, his purpose has been relegated to a menu option.

And I do like how terraforming let's you use cliff walls to create makeshift "rooms" outside like this.

Total nitpick, but it bugs me how there are no smooth round edges on any of the rivers. I get why it has to be that way with the terraforming, but I'm never gonna not notice that

Tom Nook tweeted out he's sending invites to his 383 Nook's Homes customers, and news sites are taking that as confirmation of the total villager count, but I'm pretty sure they're misinterpreting it. There are 383 animals who have Amiibo cards, so I think that was just meant to be a confirmation that all the Amiibo card animals are in the game. That would mean everyone from New Leaf except the cross-promotion characters. I think the wording "Nook's Homes customers" is supposed to mean the animals who got a home from him in New Leaf.

This honestly feels malicious though. I personally don't mind for my situation, but the reason I would change the dates back in the day wasn't to game the system, it was because I wanted to do the christmas event with my family but we only had a specific timeframe in which to do it. Maybe events will be week-long now, which would be better, but I doubt it.

The whole game is filled with "don't play this game differently than how we want you to play it" which kinda sucks, because I really truly prefer the "don't play this game differently than how we want you to play it or we'll shame you" of the younger days

Bunny Day is being patched in on Day 1, so I bet people can still time travel to April 12 (or whatever date it ends up being) and do the event right away. I don't remember it being implied the events require an online connection on a specific date.

If they're doing MMO/mobile style with seasonal events, then they should really be for more than one day.

I guess it's to prevent people from time traveling and experiencing the events early and make sure people do the events when they're suppose to happen. And I suppose they could change it up every year, so they're not recycling the same thing year after year.

Yeah. They're really going hog wild with the character customization. Pretty big departure. In the past games changing your character took a lot of effort or was downright impossible
