Unmarked spoilers, unmarked spoilers everywhere. Proceed at your own risk. You've been warned.

The first 3 episodes, I've been all in...but episode 4...I'm kind of in "what the fuck did I just watch" territory now. This is somewhere between fanfic and RPG script at this point.

You have a rogue, a folklorist, a pirate, and a diplomat. You go to recruit a samurai and the first thing you do when someone brings a disruptor to a sword fight (yes, a fucking sword fight. These aren't Jedi, I'm talking about literal swords...in Star Trek, no Klingons involved) is beam out.

Then after a brief cutscene of a space battle, a technician joins the party, fade to credits.

I just...what am I watching?

So, just watched episode 5 and I'm just wondering wtf is going on. Spoilers obviously:

So it looks like Seven didn't follow up with the whole Chakotay romance which doesn't really bother me. But then she's involved in some sort of lesbian romance that ends up getting Icheb killed? And last we see of her, she's gonna die by suicide mission? Of course, I want to believe that she kills everyone and makes it out, but then what? If that's all we see of her, I'm gonna be pissed. After everything she went through in the Delta quadrant, if this is how she dies, it's going to be a huge waste of one of the best characters in Trek. And the whole disguise thing with Picard was pretty dumb tbh. An eyepatch, really?

At least things are finally starting to move along, but I'm really disappointed in how they handled Seven and Icheb. The Voyager crew is like a family. Seeing Seven having to handle Icheb's death on her own (or at least no mention of anyone else which seems to be the case seeing how far she's fallen, or so I believe hearing that final conversation at the end), I have a hard time believing that none of the former Voyager crew would have helped her get justice for Icheb after 13 years. And I seriously doubt that Seven would have mercy killed Icheb after everything she's already done to save him on Voyager.

New Trek.

Action > Logic.

The show has also the unexplained issue of why they don't just beam out targets in areas not protected from it, which is pretty much everywhere without a shield.

I want to watch it. But I'm not paying for another streaming service. Especially not for just one show.

I'm starting to regret it, but eh, it's only $10. Least I finally got to watch Star Trek Discovery. And anyway, next month when this is finally over, I will be cancelling this shit immediately.

But back to this episode, I didn't even get to the casual murder of Maddox at the end. I mean, wth? We find that Dr. Jurati was also probably his lover, and that she did make a significant contribution to the creation of the twins. And then after finally finding him she just murders him? What about, I dunno, trying to talk to him or convince him that what he did may have been wrong (at least according to whatever it is that they showed her)? She's a scientist for fuck's sake, not a cold-blooded killer. They made that pretty apparent when she shot that Romulan at Chateau Picard. But nope, her first and only action is to kill Maddox immediately upon being alone with him. It's as much out of character for someone like her as Seven giving up on saving Icheb and mercy killing him (it's not like his guts were spilling out or something, she could have at least tried).

Well the mousy scientist girl is obviously a bipolar/psychopath. The EMH keeps popping up Everytime she's about to switch over in case you didn't catch it

It's been established in prior lore that any Borg implants still in a recovered Borg are ones that can't be removed without them dying, so if Icheb got carved up, there was nothing Seven could have done except mercy kill at that point.

And I knew that bitch on Freecloud was going to die the second she used Seven's human name.

That is the lamest excuse for her killing Maddox. She's nervous. Psychopaths don't experience emotions the same way normal people do, so her being nervous in that moment doesn't make sense if she's a psycho.

Icheb gave up his cortical node to Seven in the episode Imperfection. He didn't die then...
