I guess Yakuza 5 Remastered is finally out tomorrow so the collection is also shipping.

I completely forgot it comes with an empty PS3 case for Yakuza 5 just to add to my wall since that was a digital only release at the time.

3-5 are in the collection, which were the last games to not be on PS4.

They're enhanced ports and not full remakes like Kiwami 1 and 2.

3 does have all the content that was cut out of the original english release though.

I got mine 5 days ago. I am currently in the middle of Yakuza 3. Keep in mind that it is like it was on PS3 except sligtly better graphics.
I also don't like how you can't see the random encounters on the world so you can't evade them. You have to fight everything.

3 was definitely more like the PS2 Yakuza games than the later ones.

Its menus and systems were actually straight out of Yakuza 2 but in HD.

There's a reason 0 is the most popular because it added a ton of quality of life improvements the series was sorely needing

That said 5 is still my favorite one.

I have played 0,1,2 and I am playing 3 and I have to say that 0 is my favorite too. People say 5 is really good too so when I reach that too I will see.

I still can't believe this game is as good as it is. Just the timing and premise made it feel like it was bound to be some weird budget mechanical testing ground but it ended up being a close match for my favorite game in the series. Just so much cool stuff and such instantly lovable characters.

Anytime since it is the first one chronologically so best to start there anyways. And play them in order of course. You can skip Dead Souls and Judgement since they are spin offs.

5 minigames were on point.

Shame the story was weaker than 4s, still better than the mess we got for 3!

5's story is kind of incredible because not even 1/3rd into it you realize it's already far too batshit insane for them to ever stick the landing. So when they inevitably bungle tying everything together, at least I felt more happy for the insane ride I just took than disappointed at the ending.

Is there already a Standard version as well as the Day One? Went out to buy it today and the display cases all looked like normal PS4 boxes, no Day One label or sign of a slipcase.

I got the special version I guess? The Day One Edition version? It had some stuff on there but nothing major. I mean it has the 2 DVD's so that is fine.

This is generally accepted to be the case. Y3 onward don't really need the major overhaul that the first two games so desperately did, so it makes sense IMO.

You could buy it digitally earlier and get the games as they come, but both the digital pack and the physical came out at the same time in USA and Europe.

While Kiwami is technically a remake of the first game, it's very much treated as a sequel to 0, if that makes sense. Definitely start with 0.

Starting with the PS2 games and watching the series grow from the beginning can give you a really strong sentimental attachment to the games that's rather unlike anything else I can point to.

BUT ALSO those games are jank as hell and 90% of the people who start with them will abandon them and never play the legit incredible games later in the series. 0 just makes way more sense as a boarding point these days.
