It's definitely not a 10/10, but it's still pretty good. The story could've used more time in the oven, though.

so? what does that mean? good and great games go down in price, it's meaningless. And sometimes great games aren't as popular as they should be and they still go down in price.

MGSV has some of the best gameplay in the series, but it has the worst story hands down. With the tired twist, declining cutscene quality as the game goes on, Huey as a whole and Boring Ocelot? It's a really bad Metal Gear game, and while I disagree with the assertion that it's a trash game that isn't worth playing, I understand why some fans are butthurt by it.

I got the PS3 version on launch day for $90 AUD, and I didn't feel like I got a raw deal. I logged about 150 hours into it before my last PS3 shit itself and lost my save. Personally I really enjoyed it as a game, but I didn't like the story at all and it was a disappointing endnote to the Metal Gear series.

Also, Konami fucked up the in-game currency with patches - they moved like 80% of your resources online, including anything you made before the patch rolled out. I found this out by booting up my game in offline mode, and instantly being plunged into the red with no resources to use. I lost like 5 soldiers who up and quit due to lack of resources, because Konami fucked up my currency. And the worst part is that when you spent your currency, it would burn through your offline stash first before digging into your online stash. Eventually you could only spend your online GMP on online items, and your offline GMP would go into the negatives instead of spending the online GMP.

IGN have God Hand a 3/10 and that's a good (but flawed game)

Phantom Pain is like a 6/10.

Graphics are good, and the core gameplay systems are fine but alot of other stuff had problems.

The original score seemed lacking, especially when compared to previous installments, the story was awful, the open world hurt the game by slowing it down and not using it in any kind of interesting fashion, the scoring is broken and sprinting through the mission under full alert in five minutes will get you the same S rank as someone who took their time completing the mission.

The multiplayer components as a whole were also weak, the base designing is so limited that everything feels like cookie cutter placements. Not to mention MGO3 just being weak.

I can't imagine giving it a 10/10 objectively.

Ive owned it for years and just recently got into it. Beat the last main mission a few days ago, now I'm deciding how much more I wanna do. Overall I really like it but agree with a lot of the points here. The story is a clusterfuck. Ocelot is kinda lame and looks weird compared to Snake Eater, Quiet is hard to like much because she doesnt talk. They neutered the Codec. Not much actually going on in the open world besides a few trucks randomly driving around and some dumb animals to tranq.

Games super grindy if you wana develop the best stuff, and ive personally resorted to running Security Challenge fob missions on empty bases to rack up a ton of gmp and resources. Its way faster and easier than doing the same missions over and over, I dont care for that. Ive started getting gr 7 equipment which can be quite powerful, currently toying with the idea of going apeshit on other peoples bases in fob. Most of em are empty and abandoned anyways. At first i was nice and I would just tranq everyone and core but part of me wants to rob everybody and see what happens.

I preferred the cassette tapes to the cutscenes that we've come to know with the series.

like, in the previous MGS titles, we might get a 10-15 minute cutscene about Kruschev, the war economy, etc., but in MGSV, we got optional cassettes instead, and they didn't break up the flow of gameplay, since we could simultaneously listen to them and play.

A lot of the cassettes should have been cutscenes or codecs because they were basically mandatory for the story but some of the others more than made up for it.

You can say you don't like the game. But why do people just blatantly lie about games >_>. What's in it for them? I not only started off with a bunch of resources, but I got to the end and still hadn't unlocked all the guns and gadgets that change up gameplay. You probably didn't even have, or just got the walker at that point. It's fine to not like the game. But when you make up shit to try and justify it, you're kind of just working against your own opinion.

Maybe you just overlooked it and didn't give it any thought, but it's not fair to the game to spread bullshit.

I didn't prefer this tho. Mainly cause I suck at multi tasking and when the tape ends, I realize I didn't take it anything it said. Especially in a game like MGS where you're always planning your moves. If anything, I put them on and do excercises for a few minutes >_>.

The tapes can be fast forwarded sentence by sentence, which greatly improved any code talker or ocelot speech. Preferred to read the story anyway.
I got 200 hours or so out of it, almost all of that due to the gameplay. I liked the optional objectives but hated the scoring system. Story was nowhere near as good as the rest of the series.

I'm honestly kind of baffled by this response

I'm not lying, I completed most of the game. I wasn't referring lack of variety in gadgets and weapons. The Mother Base stuff was probably the only aspect of the game I enjoyed. I was talking about how lackluster and copy/paste the playable content is. You don't ever do anything interesting or engage with any interesting environments / enemies. I feel like smaller more detailed open areas to explore ( kinda like in Ground Zeroes) would have been significantly more engaging than what we got.

There are set piece missions throughout the entire game with interesting environments. It just happens to have a lot of busy work in-between. And when the gameplay is that diverse and you're given that many different tools, it kind of justifies it.

Is just piling onto the shit man. Just stop being so dramatic. All you gotta do is be like "There wasn't enough interesting environments or enemies to keep me wanting to play". Then your post becomes a respectable opinion instead of a blatant lie. But when you try to disguise an opinion as a fact, you just lose credibility from anyone who doesn't share your opinion. And the people you don't lose credibility with are just as bias.

Because it is garbage. Don't get me wrong, the layout was there, but they screwed up in a number of areas.

1 - Map is too big, combined with every mission forcing you back to base camp, which takes out of the feel of the overall game.
2 - Map is fairly barren with the exception of some encampments.
3 - Lack of bosses, and bosses repeat.
4 - To get the proper ending you need to repeat missions multiple times.
5 - Some minor things that people will argue about(stuff like Walkie Talkies being shot do nothing as apparently every guard can alert every other guard in a 50 mile radius)
6 - Not enough areas like Ground Zero.

Ground Zero is what Metal Gear Solid 5 should have been. There needed to be a few big areas here and there and the lack of that just took me out of it. There were areas which should have been used already built into the game, but are more barren than the likes on my Tinder profile. I expected the game to be a combination of the opening Hospital and the desert wasteland we got. Some areas closed off, maybe we travel into one of the more populated cities in the region, etc, etc. But no, its helicopter drops us off, we finish mission, same screen over and over again.

Not saying I wouldn't play a Metal Gear Solid 6 if it popped up, but 5 disappointed, which is funny because I adored 4. And I compare it to a game like say... Horizon Zero Dawn, and even that game did stealth better.

I did. But Im in a phase where "different" is a big factor of entertainment for me. I'm really craving outside of the box games. And that really did that for me. I completely understand why someone wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did. But it was 2nd to Sekiro for me last year. I kept wanting to come back, and when I did, I wouldn't stop until I had to go to sleep. Didn't even use fast travel once. Even after 80 hours I was kinda sad I had no good reason to keep delivering packages lol
