Gorgeous movie, absolutely beautiful. There's one scene where the protagonist is running through a smoldering village at dawn and his running silhouette set to the lovely European sky as the fires glow all around him was just great on the eyes.

However - boring as fuck.

Thanks for reading!

It wasn't boring at all. It was almost just 2 straight of real-time tension and excitement.

Honestly if you thought the movie was boring you must have the attention span of a gnat and, frankly, be kind of stupid.

No, it was boring.

You're not smarter or more refined than me. It was boring and the mission was lame.

100% agree with this post. Its by no means a marvel popcorn for flick but it will have you on the edge of your seat for a solid 70% of the movie

No, Dunkirk was much more exciting than this - and the mission was much more grand and riveting - also the dogfighting in that movie was something this movie had nothing like.

This. I read a review that I agree with, where it's essentially written like breaking bad. It just always gets worse and you feel it every step of the way. I loved it

Not really spoilers but there are a few deaths but not much in the way of traditional firefights. There is a big charge at the end of the movie but they don't really focus on it.

There is NO combat. NONE

Not ONE scene of group combat. There is a knife scene and some physical fighting.

Again I repeat - this war movie has not ONE COMBAT SCENE*

I can't even think of a single boring scene. They were constantly moving, and there was constant tension with the threat of being attacked or encountering danger, as well the the cinematography showing one hellscape after another

It's not a perfect movie by large but it's not a boring one. You must have really bad adhd if you thought it was "boring as ***", or be mentally deficient.

Trailer doesn't really convey the tone and feel of the movie. The movie is like non-stop tension and new sights as you're following the characters through a single take moving through enemy territory.

Like @AvantgardeAClue said, butthole clenched the entire time.

You can nitpick certain things about the movie and it has flaws but it's gripping. Boring it isn't, unless you have a weird case of attention deficit disorder like @AFrench2

Honestly, the movie might not be as good on second viewing or watching it on a small screen, so you might not as well see it if you're not gonna see it in theaters @CountDog

I am surprised no has brought up the dialogue. There quite a bit, and it easy to miss some.
It's overbearing, or preachy. But it all well planned.

Just seeing how he filled time and worked in motifs was interesting.

Is more a period piece that has a war setting, then a war movie as most people know them.

If you like WWI you will like this.

The movie makes a point of not showing the direct violence a lot of the time and instead showing the immediate or long-after effects instead which I found interesting. I thought it was good overall, cinematography and extended shots were the major stand outs.

It is not an action movie.

Where are people getting this idea there's no action? There's quite a few action scenes, just none of it is focused on the frontlines. That scene where he has to take out the sniper alone really made me nervous lol

Wonder Woman had hella WW1 scenes and nobody unfortunately cared, so I understand their approach to showing less than telling.

My only gripe with the movie is towards the end when they spend an awful lot of time on solitary walking and swimming

It's a war movie and a gun is shot maybe 10 times in the film. And this is in the 1900's when there are machine guns. So 10 bullets in a movie about a war where some battles saw casualties in the millions (Verdun, etc). A war that was so bad, it was called The Great War.

10 bullets spent in the film...go and see it, and be bored like me.

I expect to still like it because I love well-done historical stuff even if its a slog. Like Scorceses Silence was still enjoyable for that reason. Also, I like a lot of the actors in both films.

P.S. The VVitch is also a fun one to check out if youre into historicity like me, although this one is a fictional horror story just very meticulously accurate to the time that its set in.
