Ulti is akin to why people are obsessed with low-brow, drama-seeking reality TV.

Guy is kind of a personality trainwreck and says wild stuff. Clearly hypocriticalnot even a question. A good start. Karma farmsclearly his ways translate well to text. He loves a tiny soapbox. And he cares, given all the deletions.

If he can harness that energy in front a camera I could see him having his own show. Heck, just having a decent voice and he could get his own podcast, assuming he can speak as well as he can write.

I dont know. Its wild to see him get called out by so many people. And then the downvotes. And the deleted comments. I dont think he really gets ita scary thought. But parts of low-brow RTV shows are based on just not getting it.

From my perspective, hes woefully addicted to Hearthstone, is flushed with spare cash to do what he wants and drown out the haters, and thus its a cycle of rinse and repeat. He doesnt really change (despite constantly saying he does) because he probably never actually needs to. This works for him, I guess.

Give him a podcast.

Hasn't modern reality TV been pretty much limited to Kardashians, teen pregnancy, and singing shows? Not sure he'd really fit there.

But yeah, there is one game board I post on sometimes, and he always says how he "quit" the game like 10 years ago, but he still keeps posting about all the stuff he's playing in it.

Theres this dude on YouTube, Charlie Z. Hes a self-trained boxer who claims to be the best in the world. He literally films himself going to gyms and sucker punching people to add to his undefeated record.

At first you think hes just a troll, but then real boxers like Floyd Mayweather Sr, and Deontay Wilder call his bluff and destroy him in the ring, and he still keeps trying to cheap shot them and claim he beat them because he got one in and ran away before they could hit him back, and yet he still begs people like this to continue fighting him. Hes legit sick in the head.

There are niches for just about everything on the internet. If you speak loud enough and with enough conviction, you can find people willing to listen. Especially if you can figure out how to market yourself.

"Ulti is an act" leads me down two trains of thought:
1) He is an act, in which case that's kinda sad. Like foolmo says, the ends really don't justify it being an act. Where's the gain? Flashes of amusement? I know people have performed for less, but really?
2) It's not an act, it's just bad enough that people think his MO is so absurd that is has to be fake.

I think 2 is more likely, hence why he'd fit with some kind of niche podcast where he could actual gain something tangible alongside the downvotes.

Yup. I was saying this during that topic when people thought Blizzard was making a mistake. Blizzard was focusing on the product and not getting involved in politics. People didn't agree, had their tantrum, and now they are over it. The internet has a short term memory. There were already topics like a week afterward about people trying to figure out how to reactivate a Blizzard account they closed during the hysteria. And now, this far in the future, Blizzard is raking in even more money.

Never trust those who have to make a big deal out quitting publicly. A lot of them huff and puff... and crawl back. Lo and behold.

Those who truly quit tend to leave quietly. You don't care who knows you quit, you've already deleted the game, you've already talked to your friends/guild members about it.

This doesn't include content creators who explain to their viewers why they won't be covering certain content anymore, that's just business.

I think it's likely both an act and not an act - an exaggerated version of himself, leaning into his own behaviour to kid himself that it's not really him, just a creation. Sometimes. Sometimes it's probably just him. I don't think it's as easy as "act" or "not an act".

I mean, after the reduced sentence for Blitzchung, Ulti did say that he was going to keep playing hearthstone, and I did continue to see him in game and did 80g quests with him from time to time.

(He did clear out a lot of his friend list other than people he knows IRL around the time of the HK incident, though, giving some the impression he had actually deleted his account or something).

To be clear, basically no one there was saying it was a mistake from a business perspective; in fact, I seem to recall quite a few people pointing out that it wouldn't have much of an impact at the time. However, plenty of people were rightfully decrying it on moral grounds, but you only care and cared about its financial impact.
