Hoping for maximum accessibility.

browser clients dont require any downloads, but the game rules are famously screwy and ygopro would automate all of it.

thinking of GOAT format since most casual fans arent too big on synchros, pendulums, links, etc, and the general tempo and power level might be the most appealing

but ultimately its whatever you all decide.

the prize will be bragging rights as CEs King (or Queen I guess) of Games

im open to ideas.

if it just ends up being a bunch of hardcore fans then I guess it doesnt matter, but Im hesitant to do any recent or standard meta since it would probably alienate a lot of potential players.

yeah Im not big on links myself lol. Its the Mary Sue of game mechanics >_>

I got into YGO at the beginning of Pendulums and Im kind of hyped for the Shaddoll structure deck

I came back to Yugioh when pendulum was at its prime. At first I didnt like it because I was stuck in GX anime logic of game speed but upon reflection I think it's the best card type addition in the game. Link on the other hand is like an even more problematic Xyz that supports and encourages its own type at the expense of the rest of the game. It's like a parasite. And their lack of DEF makes them less versatile cards as actual monsters. I don't know how they're supposed to iterate on the game now without just kneecapping Link monsters like they did the previous extra deck cards.

I think getting rid of the linked zone rules for extra-deck monsters would help balance it out.

unfortunately they cant get rid of that goofy extra-monster zone without breaking the entire link mechanic lol.

im not too bothered by the new pendulum zones. They seem fair.

but I do love pendulums. Theyve had a few broken decks but most mechanics have at this point. They were generally balanced and supported every other card type, they were great

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of Links or Master Rule 4, but we don't need to revert to pre-Synchro era either. I'd be down with no MR4 and no Link monsters, but any non-Link-related cards from sets after MR4 was released being allowed.

I'm lukewarm on S/T pendulum zones. I guess it's not a huge deal because they're ideally monster-heavy decks anyway, but they specifically released two pendulum support cards for Crystal Beasts (my pet archetype) which are basically suicide to set as pendulum now as you lose the space necessary for Crystal Abundance. The upshot is that in theory they should allow for Pendulum Link monsters that increase the space for you to summon from the extra deck, but Konami practically put Pendulum support comatose. We don't even have an Odd-Eyes link monster to fulfill the gimmick of the archetype.

I guess you could make it pre-MR4, but that kind of screws over anyone thats played recently and has links in their extra deck. I dont know how which one would get more players.

I used to run a super gimmicky "Remove Brainwashing" deck that would tribute the opponent's monsters to put stuff like Lava Golem and Volcanic Queen on their side of the field, then use Remove Brainwashing to bring them and their high ATK power back to my side of the field with their field now clear. Grinder Golem was another one of the cards I used in that deck (since with Remove Brainwashing I would get the two tokens and the Golem itself) but now Grinder Golem is banned for reasons completely and utterly unrelated to my deck and it makes me sad.

Yeah as a Pendulum Magician guy we apparently lost Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom to a loop involving some obscure Xyz monster or something. We've also lost Double Iris and Astrograph so I think zarc just doesnt work anymore. Astrograph was awesome

Actually I think I'm misremembering and Starving Venom is just busted lol
