Just rewatched it.

Good action scenes, Natalie Portman is super hot at the end of the film, and the way Darth Sideous finesses the whole Universe is infinitely more interesting than the garbage happening in the new films.

Major Spoilers

He has his apprentice hire a bounty hunter to be a basis for his army. Creates a conflict between the Federation and the Republic to create the need for the Republic to have the army. He then hires the bounty hunter to assassinate Portman so that Obi Wan can discover the army and let the jedi council know about it. Then has Obi Wan find out about the Federation Army. This puts the Jedi in a dire situation, where they use Amadala's position and the crisis to give Palpatine the ability to grant executive orders, which he uses to grant the Republic rights over the army.

Not only that, but it's by Palpatine's suggestion, that Anakin be assigned to guard Padme. So that he falls in love with her and gets attached. And he's grooming him from the very beginning. He overcompliments Anakin so that he not only likes and trusts Palpatine, but begins to become arrogant and question the other Jedi's opinion. If everyone else can see how great he is, why can't they?

He also has Dooku straight up tell Obi Wan that the Sith control the senate, to plant the seeds of doubt within the Jedi Order. To have them turn on him in the sequel so that he can use that as leverage over Anakin.

Literally every scene and plot point has a purpose towards the ultimate goal of Palpatine.

The only bad thing about the movie is the cringey dialogue.

I like it a lot. The Coruscant and Kamino scenes are cool and the whole last act is thrilling

Palpatine is the one who orders Amidala to leave Coruscant so that he can pressure Jar Jar (the only Naboo representative available) into giving him emergency powers to legalize the clone army. Palpatine eventually uses this executive power to transform the republic into the empire.

I can't believe how much people complain about this movie. It's unreasonable. Seems like it's held to a much higher standard than other movies, that it's a meme to hate it, that people fixate on a few flaws and ignore what's good. It's not nearly as bad as yall say

There was some bad acting and dialogue for sure, but there was also a lot of interesting stuff in that movie. Jango was cool. I liked the bounty hunter chase early on where we got to see some of the seedier parts of Coruscant. Kamino was a cool planet, and the Obi/Jango fight was good. The Jedi assemble battle in the arena was a hype moment as well.

That becomes a problem when it's the majority of conversations in your movie. You could make a movie that's half bombastic action that's shot brilliantly, but which is half dialogue-driven drama - and you can bet your ass that making the dialogue scenes look/feel flat and samey across the board is going to cut into the quality of the movie as a whole.

A two-camera set-up becomes a problem when the only want you express important dialogue is in the same "shot reverse-shot" style. That applies to any movie. Just about every movie will shoot dialogue like that, but when it's a bulk of what you're seeing, it becomes dull and weakens the movie.

The picnic scene is necessary and adds a lot of nuance to the characters!

Ever since Red Letter Media made the argument that swashbuckling or choreagraphed fights is boring, it seems like a lot of people just started parroting it mindlessly.

At no point do you think Luke will die in the original trilogy or do you think Rey will in the new ones.

To say those fights have more tension or stakes is fucking hilarious.

Enjoy your lazy fight scenes with no tension.

At least characters like Jango, Mace Windu, Count Dooku etc could actually lose in the battles they fought
