It still ended badly but not "flood the facility with deadly neurotoxin" badly. The neurotoxin activation happened on another Bring Your Daughter To Work Day. It was a few days before the Black Mesa Incident which is why no one ever came to help. I think Lab Rat is most of the reason for these small retcons. The first game pretty heavily implied that Chell was one of the daughters that was brought to work, but Lab Rat has a file photo which showed that she applied to be a test subject.
