I've never been pulled over, thankfully. I don't drive, maybe that is why.

I don't think I necessarily talked my way out of it, but the cop understood that I got caught in a 'speed trap' on the highway and I was young and dumb enough that it was an honest mistake.

years later and I still remember to slow down on that stretch

The best way to get out of a ticket is to own that you were speeding and tell the cop you know you're getting a ticket - while being respectful. This challenges the cop's ego in such a way that, to have control of the situation, they'll let you off the hook.

This is what I was trained to do, but thankfully I've yet to be pulled over. Knock on wood.

however, like a decade ago my dad told me a story where when he got pulled over and opened his wallet the cop saw a pin or something on it and asked what it was. Just a little prior before a move we had an apartment where we rented the place to a former police officer (who also happened to be Ray Ramano's brother) and it was given to him as a parting gift.

Apparently as soon as the cop saw it and got a confirmation for what it was he let my dad off with a warning instead of a ticket.
