Fox News hosts and personalities have been instructed over the last several days not to identify the whistleblower whose complaint sparked an impeachment probe against President Trump, people familiar with the matter told CNN Business.

Several hosts and commentators on the network who have been supportive of President Trump seem to want to name the person they believe to be the whistleblower, but Fox's guidelines have said not to do so.

Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning did not follow the legal channels for whistleblowing, they literally just took information and gave it to unauthorized third parties. They forfeited any and all legal protection when they violated their non-disclosure agreements to give classified information to foreign entities.

Julian Assange is not a whistleblower - he was an unauthorized recipient of classified information who indiscriminately published it online, and if it wasn't already obvious before the 2016 campaigning, then it should have become painstakingly obvious during the 2016 campaigning that he was releasing information specifically to harm the US. There were clear signs before that. There's no way to defend that asshole.

The whistleblower at the heart of the impeachment inquiry did follow all the legal requirements for filing the complaint.

Fox is currently a house divided. You have somewhat serious and professional anchors on there actually trying to report somewhat factual information about what's going on, and then you have the entertainment branch that is just there to rile up Trump's supporters for the views (also maybe to secure a spot in Trump's administration when the next position opens up in a week or two, seems to be a pretty quick rotation of personnel over there and the qualification requirements aren't too high).

The whistleblower passed along word that there were people wanting to come forward about the quid pro quo & attempted cover-ups.

What purpose does revealing their identity serve for the Trumper defense? Seems like the concern should be way past that now that even Trumps own people are confirming the quid pro quo to Congress
