The shocking BOMB of Terminator Dark Fate was revealed this morning as it's eyeing a horrific 27M for the 3 days after tracking showed it was going to earn 40M for the 3 days after the return of Arnold and Linda!!

Paramount and Fox(Disney) were hoping for a better result as even China is underperforming with 19.4 when it was expected for a 30M result and is well below the 40-50 they were hoping.

It needs 470M+ to even breakeven on a 200M budget and that number is going to be well off it's range as James Cameron and Arnold asked for 8-9% of the total ally...this will definitely see red in the end!

There was creative battles between Deadpool's Tim Miller and James Cameron as the creative battle over where to take the franchise was going and even though critics were more generous with a 70% fresh rating, audiences even cranked out an 85% on RT but when spoilers revealed a shocking and furious response from the public, it turned people off..especially male trolls who erupted in anger when the 3 leads would be FEMALES after previous failed attempts with male leads

It doesn't help that the main characters were relative unknowns and despite Arnold and Linda, there was no major stars. The movie is also ignoring all other Terminators after Judgement Day and Linda had called those sequels "trash"

This is the 6th film in the series and will be the biggest bomb as audiences don't seem to care much about the franchise anymore..

The movie was expected a global opening of 125 million but that number will severely by way off...

If Terminator Genisys is any indication, itll do poorly in North America, but become a financial success from the rest of the world. About 80% of the box office for Genisys came from outside North America.

Also, Genisys did $27 million over its entire opening weekend. If Dark Fate did $27 million from Wednesday to Friday, then its very likely going to surpass that mark. And Genisys did $440 million worldwide on a (roughly) $160 million budget - about the same as Dark Fate.

Its biggest issue is the series had its two best movies in 1984 and 1991. The series hit its peak an entire generation ago.

This. Although I adblock and don't watch many things with ads, I still manage to see ads *somewhere* for a lot of films or otherwise get information. Dark Fate I didn't even know was a thing.

Hulu, Netflix, Youtube (which I do get ads on for my phone), one versions of newspapers, NPR while driving, websites, etc, and not a thing. Granted, NFI doesn't have ads and, like I said, I adblock a lot of other stuff. However, most of the time I know that other films are coming out.

I didn't see zombieland 2....which I actually want to see, because I prefer to watch movies at home to a theater at this point.

There is no way I'm gonna watch yet another Terminator movie at this point, possibly even if it's free on HBO/Showtime etc (which it may be eventually) or on Netflix.

I mean, if it's free i'll give it a try probably, but like the newest Predator movie, I'll probably give up halfway.

I don't even know how movies are still doing well ever at this point, it's so cheap to have a home theater system that is better then a movie theater at this point, you can have friends over, eat your own snacks/pizza etc, pause shows and they even come out usually on dvd within a few months of release.

It's like 1$ to rent from DVDxpress as well, so your saving significant money even if you were just gonna go with a significant other (let alone kids etc). Even if you didn't have a home entertainment system, you could save enough not going to the theater in a year or so to pay for one at this point.

I don't understand why movie theaters are not dead yet.

Didn't they mostly do that because this movie completely ignores what happened in Terminator 3 and all of the sequels to that movie up to this point?

I'm pretty sure James Cameron wanted to reboot the franchise more or less while still giving credence to the best Terminator films. Acting like it was done just to be Woke is pretty ridiculous.

From what I read T3 and others happened but so did this because it's a different timeline, one where John was killed or something, i'll watch it when it comes out, I don't really go to the theaters.

This is a sequel to T2 yes. However again the choices made was to accommodate the three female cast members. Two of these cast members were pointless despite the writers trying to make them relevant.

If you've seen the film you'll understand. If you've seen it and don't then I won't be changing your mind but it is what it is.

I haven't seen it yet, I will probably watch it eventually not sure if I will head to the theaters though.

I generally agree, and I don't want to get bogged down in an argument about it, but the little I know is that there were "phony" tweets from reviewers (at least 10) that were all obviously copied from the same studio talking points. the main talking points were:

- best Terminator since T2
- women kick ass even more than Arnie
- does to Terminator what The Force Awakens did for Star Wars

and of course no mention of:
- what was the movie like?
- how was the story?
- anything positive to say about Arnie?

(note: this is not really a reason for me to dislike the movie or avoid seeing it)
(also note: it's maybe not suspicious for one or two reviewers to say this. it is definitely suspicious for 10 reviewers to all tweet basically the three top points verbatim while avoiding the three bottom points.)
(final note: that the movie was "marketed" this way doesn't mean the movie was produced with similar intentions; I'd have to see it first)

That was my impression of it too. I went and saw the movie with 4 other guys. None of us even noticed anything that would make me think the movie was woke.

I was just excited to see Sarah Connor come back, and when Arnie appeared, he was great. I also learned a thing or two about drapery.

I read recently that one of the new characters was an idea from Joe Abercrombie, considering he is a favorite author of mine, my interest in the movie has increased.

Remember when Captain Marvel made a billion dollars and the antiwoke crowd shriveled up into their own anuses.

Interesting. Audience reviews on Rotten Tomato stands at 84% compared to the audience giving Genisys 53%. Kinda curious where the difference lies. Personally I probably would knock Genisys down some number of points for rebooting the timeline/story instead of closing the circle. With Dark Fate I might be more accepting only because of Genisys already going down that route.

Not every movie needs to be an never ending franchise.

I would argue one of the biggest problems with movies today is every one of them is trying to be a never ending franchise.

And look, it's always possible to make another good Terminator movie after T2, but it's not necessary either.

I have seen ads for it everywhere.

I just couldn't care less about the franchise after so many terrible movies.

Instead of trying to sell tickets on some gimmick maybe they could try and actually write a good movie.

I think its done. Genesys was the last chance. Now its just sort of there. 3 and Salvation were almost unwatchable
