Hell, even if he actually doesn't remember from playing Pokemon games in the past, no one in real life would try to fight water with fire. It would get doused immediately.

But this isn't surprising for Phil in the least. How many times has he played through all the Souls Bourne games combined? How many times is he just failing to understand what are simple base mechanics in these games?

I get that he has been slowly declining, because of his lack of social interaction, but he has never retained information, ever. There's footage out there of Phil completing tutorial sections of games, and not 5 minutes later forgetting what was explained. Or fails to use mechanics explained to him.

One great example of the latter, is the AR training in Batman: Arkham City. In order to unlock the Grapple Boost in the game (and he played this back in his Youtube days, before he was streaming), you have to do a couple of "tutorial" missions, explaining how to glide, build up momentum and maneuver. He couldn't even fucking figure out how to dive, even though the instructions were on his screen, he'd fuck it up over and over and chalk it up due to bad game mechanics. Even though it was simple as fuck.

And in regard of game mechanics, my favourite TIHYDP is XCom: Enemy Unknown. He never ever once properly uses the game's mechanics after they are explained in a literal tutorial mission. He doesn't use cover, doesn't use elevation, clumps up his soldiers all the time and bitches about getting hit by grenades. His soldiers die all the time, get poisoned/ on fire and tend to get panicked all the time.

All the while Phil is bitching as hard as he can.

And I'll be honest, I love the Xcom games, they can be brutal as fuck. But Phil tries to bum-rush through everything, instead of learning the nuances of the game. But that is true for a lot of games, and this circles back to the Souls Bourne games. Phil learns the bare minimum he needs and then bum-rushes through the game.

And here is the thing baffles me. Even if you are doing something you hate, with just the sheer amount of repetition, you get better at it. Simple example, even though Phil sucks at fighting games (because he is unable to adapt), he can pretty much pick up any game and perform special moves because of muscle memory. But this never happens to anything else.

Now, I realize that back when before Youtube, he was actually passionate about fighting games. Going to all kinds of events and stuff. But now, he is miserable playing anything, so maybe his laziness combined with his misery makes him discard almost anything he does? I dunno, just theorizing here.

I kind of think he just shuts his brain off when he starts playing. The game goes on and the majority of his attention is focused on stream chat. Even when he's not interacting with anyone, he's watching for tips, looking for trolls to ban, or waiting for people to tell him what to do in the game. Despite his declining mental faculties and hand-eye coordination, I believe he could be much better than he is if he simply paid attention.

I was watching a playthrough of a YouTuber (8 Bites) and the contrast between DSP and another steamer is shocking. You have DSP who is non-stop begging, non-stop crying about money, seems miserable and looks like a slob compared to another gamer who appears to be enjoying the game, looks clean, doesn't beg except for asking for likes and comments and doesn't shit on their viewers.

That's pretty much most other Youtubers/Streamers, though. As someone who has had a Twitch account from before it became Twitch, I have seen a lot of streamers on the site and I have not even seen a single one reach the levels of begging as DSP. Sure, some streamers, especially smaller ones, set up goals for things like a new computer or a speedrunner going to one of the big events, but they are upfront with it and don't even beg for money, other than maybe mentioning their goal at the beginning of the stream. DSP will continually point out he needs money, doesn't say what he needs it for (other than just needing it) and even when he reaches a goal, he'll just add a new one for no reason other than just needing more money.

I agree that if someone donates money to a streamer, expecting them to give it to some random beggar in the chat, then they are stupid. If they ask for a refund, the streamer can give it back to them, but no one should be doing that.

This just proves that his "fanbase" is just.. wel... dumb for lack of a better word, lest I get suspended. You have to be incredibly dumb/naive to give someone money to have them give it to someone else. Why not give it to the person directly? We all know what kind of person Phil is, you give him money, it disappears in an endless black hole of nothingness.

In other news... Phil was stunned and amazed while playing Pokemon Sword/Shield. He walked up on a lake, and you could see fish swimming/jumping out of the water. Phil was shocked to learn that there are "fish" type Pokemon. This isn't the first time he plays a Pokemon game, "fish" type Pokemon have been there since the first generation. Once again proving that Phil retains no information even in games he claims he "enjoys". But his reaction also shows how little sense he has. Is it really that fucking weird to see fish in a goddamn lake?

Also, the whole naming Pokemon thing for the highest contributor is a fucking scam. At best you get your name up for a day, because Phil resets this every time he streams the game. So he will be renaming Pokemon if someone else wins the "bidding" war, possibly renaming a Pokemon someone renamed a stream before. That's not even considering Phil switching out Pokemon as he updates his team during his playthrough.

Also, something interesting I noted. Someone in Phil's chat said they contribute to spite the "haters". I am absolutely stunned by this. How are you spiting anyone by pissing away your hard earned money?

Yeah, I've seen a number of people do this, and while I'm sure it does trigger a few of the haters, most detractors are looking at these people with a mix of derision and pity.

YouTube is a vital source of income, except when it's an archive that doesn't matter at all. Whatever Phil is currently saying is the absolute truth, even though we've seen him spout a different "truth" in the past, and that kind of reminds me of 1984.

This fucking asshole is so goddamn ungrateful for all the money he gets, he will just pretend like the last few days he got no money so he can make it seem like one stream was slow in terms of earned money.

I know the answer is narcissism, but how can he not realize that HE is the problem? No matter what game he plays, there are always issues with low donations, or low viewership, or low interactions. He can play three completely different games and have the exact same issues with all of them. It's almost as if he is a terrible streamer who doesn't know how to engage with his audience. It's almost as if refusing to grow that audience (by not acting like a colossal prick and instantly driving away almost everyone new to his stream) has resulted in an extremely limited number of people willing to donate because that limited group of people has a limited amount of disposable income.

Oh god yes, the video evidence. One that is currently a talking point is the Google Adsense ban (again). This is a prime fucking example why you cannot call him (a narcissist) out, because even though you KNOW his reasoning his bullshit, he is convinced he is right.

Short summary:

-He asked people to click on his adds to generate (more) income
-This is against the ToS
-This caused the Adsense ban

Now Phil admitted that he did indeed ask people to click on his videos. But, you see, that is not why he got banned. He got banned due to erroneous click activity. So in fact, it is not Phil's fault, but the people who clicked on it. It doesn't matter if Phil ASKED them to click adds, it's the fault of people who actually clicked.

Another excuse he also loves to use, is that his Adsense wasn't banned shortly after him asking to click ads, rather about 1.5 years later. Doesn't matter you broke the ToS, if there aren't any immediate repercussions, then he didn't do anything wrong. So, you can commit murder, but unless you are arrested immediately, you should be able to walk away. I get that this is a little over the top, but this is exactly his reasoning, unless something isn't punished immediately, it's okay.

I think in his head it's not because he asked them to, because that/those video[s], it's because the people went and did it. It was their fault for listening to them. I don't know the exact quote, but it's something along the lines of this - "It got banned because of fraudulent click activities. Correct. But the thing is, those videos didn't get hit with any sort of ToS. He only got kicked from it because the fans clicked the videos too much because they knew he wad down on his luck and needed money. He doesn't think he did anything wrong because the videos of him doing it didn't get him into trouble, so by his own logic, he did nothing wrong. It was the fans' fault for over-clicking them

Phil once again has shown a staggering lack of self awareness and how little his mind is, he literally cannot see beyond himself:

Phil was reacting to the Tesla reveal. He could not understand for the life of him, why people trust Musk and/or want to give him money. The awareness is painfully absent here. The same could be asked about Phil too, why give him money? Musk actually contributes to this world, the only thing Phil has given the world is his bitching and begging for money. If Musk died tomorrow, you would know for sure the world would be a worse place for it. If Phil died tomorrow.... I wonder who would ACTUALLY show up to his funeral, save his parents. Because honestly, I can totally see Kat taking the money and bolting.

And his world is incredibly small, because during his rant he repeatedly said that he thought the car was ugly and not appealing and as such he could not understand that other people would like it. Personally, speaking for myself, I love the design. But Phil being Phil, having made his world so fucking small and being a complete narcissist who only has one thing to live for: himself, cannot place himself in someone else's shoes and say "Oh, I can see why someone would like it".

Everything is fucking black and white with him. Either you are a fan, or a detractor. Either you contribute, or you get thrown under the bus. Either everyone shares Phil's opinion or you're wrong. Phil is never wrong, and even if he is, it's your fault.

To end this, I would love to present you the narcissist's prayer, just to drive my point home:

It's not that strange really, since he can only see things in black and white, then others can only too.

He is devoid of any kind of empathy, he is incapable of placing himself in another's shoes. As such, he cannot imagine people experiencing things differently than he does. That's what is so telling. I've been thinking about this a little bit:

You have fans, who are (literally and figuratively) the biggest losers in the Phil "circle". They throw money at Phil (whether it is with good intentions or not is irrelevant), but they will never get satisfaction for it. Phil is never grateful for the money he gets, because he feels like he is owed it. It is never enough in his black hole of debts, bills, etc. And the second you stop being useful to Phil, he will throw you under the bus faster than you can blink. These people are for some reason giving Phil their (sometimes hard earned, or pissing away their late wive's inheritance) while that money is SOOOO much better spend on literally anything else.

On the opposite side you have the "detractors". They are the winners in this "circle". They are just here to enjoy the slow burn, the train-wreck as it happens. As much Phil loves to say they are nothing without him, if Phil was gone they will just find someone else to laugh at. At worst, this group just loses bits and pieces of time. They are just here to laugh, and are no worse for wear.

And in the middle of it all, is Phil. It doesn't matter how much money he makes, he is never going to be satisfied, it is never going to be enough. He has burned every single bridge in every relationship he ever had, possibly save for his parents. He leads an incredibly shallow and unfulfilling life. He might seem like the big winner in this circle, but given he finds no enjoyment in what he does, the money he makes and the life he leads, but he is just an empty shell of a human being. Even the big Twitch paychecks aren't enough to keep him happy anymore.

And lastly, the group who are the big winners in the circle that is Phil: the people who are blissfully unaware of Phil's existence. They lose neither money nor time on him, never get pissed off at him or get scolded by him. They are truly blessed.

I have to believe some of his whales are supporting him because they see him (or at least the version of himself that he peddles) as a reflection of themselves. They see a man who is unfairly hated because he doesn't conform to the expectations of society, a man who could be wildly successful if those who were jealous of him hadn't conspired to bring him down. They've probably experienced similar things in their lives--maybe they're still experiencing them--and so they see Phil as a kind of hero, and supporting him is like giving a big fuck you to the people who have treated them badly. I think some of them feel as if they could BE Phil if circumstances had been different.

Sure, that's just a theory, but I guess I'd rather believe that than the possibility that his whales feel he legitimately deserves thousands of their dollars to put out his increasingly lazy content.
