Man, Cold Steel 3 keeps delivering. Can't help but feel like it's a better game than even Persona 5, but alas, it has accessibility issues due to needing to have played all of the previous Trails games to fully enjoy it.

But at a minimum, games wish they could have minor NPCs as well written as the Cold Steel games.

Trails of Cold Steel 3 is interesting. I feel like it hasn't quite had a knockout moment yet, but at the same time the game has been dialed up to like 9.5 out of 10 the entire time through. I think every Trails game previously has had significant slow stretches that aren't quite as fun to play through, but this one hasn't let up the pace even once and has stayed engaging all the way up through 80-90 hours or whatever I'm at now.

Cold Steel 3 Chapter 2 complete

Man, they jampacked so much into this chapter that I don't even know where to start. There are way too many factions at work here for me to even attempt to keep up with what's going on. We've even got the friggin' GNOMES involved now (working alongside Revived/Undead Crow or something; apparently someone around here is reviving dead people and their Divine Knights), although Olivier's comment that the Gnomes are one of two groups who know about what happened 1200 years ago intrigues me, because it makes me wonder what the other group is. That's one of the underlying mysteries that I've wanted more answers to since Trails FC.

also seriously are we ever going to figure out just what the heck the Phantasmal Blaze Plan is even remotely about or how it's possible for it to be stolen and swapped back and forth

even by this point into Trails in the Sky we at least had some idea as to what Ouroboros was up to with all of the Gospels but I'm seriously totally clueless and the dumb name doesn't help

If we're talking my favorite S-Craft across the entire series, it's Kevin's Spear of Loa from 3rd no contest. Not only is the S-Craft itself incredible, the reveal moment is top-tier. Visually and the line read/incantation are top-tier.

In Cold Steel it's probably Sharon's Death's Embrace or C's Deadly Cross. I love the inverted color thing they do visually and the former is really cool even beyond that. Rufus (CS2) has a really cool one too as I mentioned back when I was replaying CS2.

as a rule, i'm usually a sucker for the "edgy" s-crafts.

Machias's Justice Bullet though, that's 100% on that one line lol. If it was muted or I was playing subbed I wouldn't think too much of it. But that line and delivery are just amazing lmao.

if we're talking favorite S-Crafts in the series Joshua's Black Fang and Phantom Raid bailed me out countless times going through Sky (I always throw Gladiator equipment on him to get him up to S-Crafts quickly)

Plus, the way he says, "You're finished," is really cool and actually sounds threatening!

Phantom Raid would be fairly high on an S-Craft list for me as well. SC in particular because all later versions of it are inferior because they got rid of the very beginning where the Ouroboros logo appears behind Joshua and then shatters with the "I will run... no more." which is a tragedy.

I never did play Wii Fit but this seems like a proper workout while also being an RPG. My ring man is level 4 and when you level up you increase your attack and defense and sometimes learn new exercises to use in battle.

CS3 Chapter 2 beated

Well, that got pretty crowded at the end there! I think what's going on here is you have three general "factions" in play here. Ouroboros, the Gnomes, and then Vita and whatever helpers she referred to. I'm guessing the Gnomes hired Zephyr and Ouroboros and the Gnomes are fighting over Phantasmal Blaze because ???. Osborne should be tied in here and on the Gnomes side if I'm right because he "has" Phantasmal Blaze whatever that means. ...Unless Osborne is separate from all this? It's hard to imagine he's seen as irrelevant to Ouroboros at least... unless that's what Vita lost the vote on?

Not sure what Vita's game is. She says she's still loyal to the Grandmaster but apparently she's so opposed to whatever the other Anguis decided that she stormed out. It almost sounds like she's running an investigation of some kind what with her apparently checking out Spirit Shrines and dealing with the Scarlet Pleroma Grass but who knows.

Pretty sure that Zombie Crow doesn't remember he's Crow or else he was an ice cold triple agent who just ignored the fact that he knew like 80% of the people at the tower. McBurn pretty much confirms it as Crow (if the voice, weapons, and Ordine wasn't enough) even if Class VII is still in the "IMPOSSIBLE!" phase and tbqh McBurn is like the best source of honest insight of wtf is going on with these things when he cares to talk about them so I trust his read.

As for Vita's "oh btw guys the world is ending" thing that's... interesting. I feel like the "ending she tried to change" is the Valimar v Ordine fight in CS2's Infernal Castle and/or tied in with her "Divine Knights keep happening, history in Erebonia is basically a loop" speech. If you combine those with Valimar's comments and the War of the Lions history I think you get something like "Valimar (with Dreichels) won at Heimdallr and the Infernal Castle to win the war" and maybe Vita was trying to knock the loop off-script with an Ordine win? But there has to be more to it because the outcome of the fight didn't phase her or Phantasmal Blaze it seems.

also praise arianrhod for giving us the most information on phantasmal blaze in 3 games even if it's still like nothing. The impression I was getting at the end of Chapter 1 was that Shirley and Duvalie were trying to start a big enough fight prior to starting up the Aion with all the "Is this enough maybe?" kinda talk. Chapter 2 seems to play kinda similar where I got the impression that they were kinda sorta hoping but not really expecting that the fight with Demon McBurn would get get crazier. Campanella starts going "Well, guess we'll need Vita or-" before he gets cut off by New Class VII. OTOH it seems they can start the Aions either way?

Arianrhod mentions seeing if a vessel can gain power through combat. I think the simplest answer is the Aions... but I'm guessing these two attempts have failed and what they're hoping for is the Aion going SSJ or something? Maybe back to Sept-Terrion backed levels. Either way, looks like Arianrhod has the MVP Aion with her so if that one goes full power then lmao everyone is ****ed that thing is a god.
