I just wish I could have gotten the poster from EB, but I'd have to go to the store to and get it there. PSN is just easier and cheaper for me, so no extras.

No reason to do so digital unless you want to pre load. And unless other countries are better off, you aren't getting more than a poster with the disc, and deal with downloading day one disc patch since development continued.

Midnight for me. I suppose I could pull an all nighter and catch up on sleep later. :P

I also should be getting a response from Nintendo UK support about delinking my NNID from my broken 2DS so I can move it to the new system. That will be nice.

Preorder culture is absolute bullshit, and like most major games these days I'm sure it'll require multiple patches to be fully playable, so I see zero reason to get this day one. Especially when I've already got a backlog of like a dozen games I bought and haven't played yet (I'm playing GreedFall at the moment).

If I hear a lot of good reviews that praise aspects of the game I actually care about, I'll probably get it sooner rather than later, though I'm not necessarily waiting for a sale, per se.

I can understand, and rarely pre order myself unless I'm damn sure about a game, such as Dragon Quest XI which was already out for a good long while in Japan so had good reviews available.

This one, I've enjoyed all the games I've played that Obsidian made, and given their purchase by Microsoft, this is probably the last one I can grab for a Sony system. I'm hoping it does good enough that they might consider otherwise, unlikely as it is. I know there are PC gamers who are refusing to get it on Epic or the Microsoft store, some of the ones who don't want GamePass mentioned going for PS4.

yeep

obsidian said that, if an outer worlds 2 is made, or another game from them in general, it wont be multiplatform that time

the only reason it is now, is because publishing deals for this game was already set before the acquisition and microsoft decided to honor it

I'd agree, though Pillars of Eternity was somewhat lackluster IMO. If nothing else, I've never had any real problems with games they've made that I've bothered playing (I haven't played every single game they've released, mostly just the major ones). And I liked them before they WERE Obsidian, back when they were Black Isle.

But I've also seen multiple examples of studios I once loved becoming everything I hate, and the modern game industry in general has taught me to be suspicious of hell of pretty much every studio, so I tend to look before I leap. Then look again. Then wait a bit and look again.

That's doubly true for story-heavy RPGs, where some flaws may not become obvious for a while (like Mass Effect 3 and Fallout 3 having bullshit endings that kind of ruin them for some people, or Dragon Age 3 being 1/2 of an interesting Dragon Age game hidden behind layers and layers and layers and layers of filler, and then completely negated and ruined by its DLC). Which makes it hard to trust professional reviews, because most are so desperate to get their review published early to get clicks, they don't even remotely finish a game before scoring it. So early hype can be tricksy until people actually start getting to the end and are able to consider the entire experience holistically.

Again, it's my trust for Obsidian and the fact that I liked New Vegas that tends to steer me towards assuming I'll probably get this eventually (in the same way I'm pretty sure I'll buy Cyberpunk 2077 eventually after it comes out), but my trust only goes so far at this point. The industry has burned me way too many times to give complete trust even to companies I've loved for decades.

Very true. But with Epic / Microsoft store / XBox Live being their preferred stores, I'm not going to worry about possible standards in the future. :P

I wonder if I could change my region to NZ and get it earlier?....meh, I'll just wait till 4pm tomorrow my time I guess.

I already have my character planned hehe.

Gonna play a high Cha woman with excellent dexterity and intelligence, low strength, good temperance/perception. Focus on guns, lockpicking/hacking and ordering my companions around hehe.

That's not too far from how I play most RPGs. Though I can't drop Strength because it's almost always tied to encumbrance and I'm too much of a packrat. And I actually tend to take low Perception and give "modern" characters glasses.

I'm a silver-tongued she-devil though. Charisma's pretty much my core stat in any game with dialogue.

I did a bit of research and strength primarily affects 2 things, melee damage (of which I don't intend to use), and carrying capacity.

Thing is, you naturally start with 80kg, and gain 20 per str (or lose 20 per str), so dropping str 2 points means you start with 1/2 the carrying capacity.

That seriously blows, but.....unlike in fallout as soon as you get a perk (either by leveling or taking a fault), you can get pack rat...which adds 50 kg.

So then you have 90 or 130kg (if you don't dump strength).

Once you hit 5 perks though, you can get group of pack rats, which boosts your carrying capacity by 80 more (as long as you have 2 companions by then, 40 if you only have one still).

That nets you 170kg with the str penalty, vs 210 without.

Finally end game you can get super pack rat!!!!! It adds another 100kg.....so by end game you are running with 270kg vs 310kg....and yeah, no worries at all for the 2 less str.

2 MORE of other stats are pretty huge, it takes a normal (Say normal temperance) which for instance gives 2 hp regen/sec to high...which gives 22 hp regen/sec.

Pretty huge difference.

I'm not sure exactly if i'm gonna go high int, normal int, good int or what, gonna look at the various stats (int/perception/temperance) and choose between them.

I know I want High dex and Cha for sure, no touching that.

Low str gives me the points to have good or high in the remaining 3, I just have to choose between:

Normal/high/high, or Good/good/high basically.

I'm not sure on how useful int is, or for that matter perception (but perception does add to damage when in slow time). It kinda makes sense to go with high perception then because I'll be using guns mainly.

So that means either going good int/good temp, or normal int/high temp pretty much.

I was never in love with either, so their fall doesn't bother me as much. I save my tears for Bioware and Bungie. So many great memories from both for the first decade and a half of the current millennium, now both are so broken and ruined nothing of value is likely to ever come from either of them ever again (and Bioware will probably be gutted and devoured by EA sooner or later, like it's done to so many other studios before it like Origin and Westwood).

I felt the same way about Square before that - it was pretty much my A-number-1 company for most of the 90s, now it's been more or less dead to me since the Squeenix merger.

Yeah, it's literally just New Vegas' system. Strength determines carry capacity, but there are perks like Strong Back, Pack Rat, Burden to Bear, and Long Haul to make it easier to carry heavier stuff even with lower capacity.

That being said, taking those perks prevents you from taking other perks, so it's still a drawback. Depending on how a game handles excess weight and carry capacity, and how much junk exists to be picked up (like, say, junk-heavy games a al Fallout or Elder Scrolls versus something a bit more junk-light like GreedFall), you might be better off just investing a lot of stat points into Str to boost carry weight, or ignore it entirely and just spend most of your time over-encumbered.

Yeah, I checked into that as well.

The game has a tier system for perks, you have to take 5 tier 1 perks to get tier 2 perks and 5 tier 2 to access tier 3.

This basically makes it so just the tier 3 pack rat perk (100kg) really makes you not get another better perk....although it might affect the orders.

Yeah those guys as well. Blizzard I have been following since warcraft and betheada since morrowind. But there are other companies as well. EA used to be really cool in the 90's for example. Just so many companies turning towards pure greed and customer exploitation. I mean I get it, they need to make money but they do it so under handed ya know?
