I just feel that the Patriots are so good that people are inventing a non-story just so there's some turmoil and adversity involved in their eventual title.

It's always this. Even if brady and bill have run their course, they're both consummate professionals and wouldn't stoop to trashing the other. They respect each other way too much.

look a bit deeper

1. OL is banged up, they can't pass protect or run the ball
2. WRs all banged up
3. Kicker can't even be trusted with a 30 yarder

add all those up and they are pretty much just asking to go one and done, there's legit no way they can score on a decent D, just look at how well they did in the SB that's how good they are now except without a good left tackle or center

To be fair, Sony Michel would still only average 2 yards a carry behind the best OL in the league.

he's literally averaging 50% more than that behind the worst line

and averaged more than double that behind last year's line

You'd think he'd have broken literally 1 tackle by October 1st.

His multi TD games where he barely punches the ball in from the 1 are a great masking solution to hide that he's a bad football player.

I don't think Michel is the problem with the running game. McDaniels needs to come up with a different scheme. Like why are they running wham blocks with guys that can't run wham blocks? The running game is very un-Patriots because they aren't making the most of what they have, they keep just trying to fill the hole. Allen's gone, Gronk's gone, Devlin's hurt. I would agree that, say, Bolden is better with the current personnel but with the right personnel for this scheme, I'd take Michel every day.

Maybe the defense is historically great, maybe not - we just need it to be very good in January.
