Like people get upset if you're at a restaurant or theater and don't clean up after yourself. Or you talk over a cashier/customer service representative to get your order done quickly as possible with no mistakes.

Potential benefit of strangers ending up recognizing you later in some capacity that is significant to you. Employer, coworker, member of some hobby club, or vendor, or whatever.

But really, if you don't feel bad from doing things that you know are bad, you're damaged.

The benefit is that, by being nice to people you don't know, you'll have at least achieved what is regarded by society the bare minimum to be a decent adult.

Most exchanges of information are superfluous

I guess if you have a good personality you can probably improve someone's life by just starting up a comfy interaction for a bit

for Spinoza, I guess, being nice in a social setting increases your ability to experience 'niceness' over all

This has nothing to do with being nice or not, this is basic function that you should have learned as a child. Toddlers leave messes for others to clean up, not functioning adults.

I work food service and have developed a boundless empathy to other service workers. It's basic human kindness, go by the Golden rule. If you're afforded the opportunity to make someone's life easier, or better with very little effort, why turn away?

Besides when they remember you you're gonna get the hook up
