Not sure if I like the first one most for how good General Knoxx DLC is, or the second one for just plain having more stuff to do and more variety.

pre-sequel is lame though... except for enemy animations. They took a note from the Timesplitters team and packed the enemies with tons of cool contextual animations.

I didnt vote because I only played the first one, but it had some damn awesome DLC. That final DLC boss had some great loot for my Siren build, I think.

Garbage series.

I'd say 2, though I haven't played Tales or 3 yet. There are some valid arguments to be made for the first one handling certain things better (namely world drop loot making it more likely that you'll come across decent legendaries playing normally instead of having to farm a given boss, with the downside that farming specific legendaries for a build becomes much harder), but I'd still say that 2 was overall a more enjoyable game to play. Pre-Sequel was fun, but never engaged me the way 2 did.

I only played 1 & 2 and I found them both to be about the same. Solid 8/10 games.

Tales was absolutely fantastic. It made me feel in ways no other game in the series ever did.

But BL2 is still the game that made me fall in love with the series in the first place, and as much as I enjoyed the Pre-Sequel later, it's probably still my go-to game for favorite.

I've only played 2 and 3. I'm really enjoying the gameplay in 3 but I think overall 2 is the best. Hopefully the DLC in 3 will change my mind.

3 easily, awesome soundtrack, a myriad improvements, more gun and level variety. The only thing that's sucks about it is the story, and maybe some of the characters and their Juvenile humor.

The one on the Vita was amazing.

I really really really like Pre-Sequel, but I guess I have to vote for BL2.

I've played all except for Tales and the obvious phone garbage.

B3 I like a lot, and it checks a lot of boxes a big sequel should, like even tighter gameplay and skill trees, the Guardian Rank replacing Badass rank in a way that makes more sense for post-story play (basically Diablo 3's Paragon system). The expanded lore and world/galaxy building helps a lot, too (and making each manufacturer have an even stronger identity).

That said, B2 was a huge step up from B1, whereas not so much from B2 to B3. But the biggest reason B2 wins is Handsome Jack is like one of the best game villains ever conceived, and it made the story a non-stop mix of laughs and loving to hate Jack. The humor is more varied and yet tight in B2 also, I think.

That said, I'm definitely including all the DLC (of which I played all of ) for B2, so it's not totally fair to compare to B3 yet. The Borderlands DLC tends to add big additions, either in introducing new characters (Moxxi and Torgue come to mind) or by putting the game in an almost entirely new setting and feel (Tiny Tina's DLC was a fucking blast). So who knows what B3's DLC has in store?

Also- I've always been kinda curious about Tales, but I feel like it's probably more efficient at this point to just watch a play through on Youtube. Or do the choices really matter that much?

It's pretty standard opinion that the first game is more boring compared to 2, tons of people shit on the presequel for not being different enough, 3 only just came out and has problems of its own, and a lot of people have either never played Tales or just don't like the radically different playstyle.

I would have assumed 2 running away with it was a foregone conclusion. And I say that as someone who likes all the games.

I liked the Pre-Sequel just fine. Loved the low-gravity moon jumping, and playing as the "bad guys" was pretty neat. I just feels like the odd one out in comparison.

I kinda liked it fine, too. I just found the enemy variety kinda weak (the SCAVs aren't as cool as the natives of Pandora), although the increased variety of animations did make them slightly more interesting that way.

Plus The Sentinel was a much cooler boss than The Warrior.
