One that you can get on the 3ds eshop for like 3.99, or on a toaster oven for free. It's mind boggling.

60 really is a bit much. it shouldn't cost more than Link Between Worlds.

I mean I'm not happy about the price either, but it's not a remaster it's a complete remake. Remaster is when they take the existing game and just barely clean up some of the textures and maybe add like one new graphics effect if they're feeling like putting the tiniest effort into it. This is completely rebuilt from the ground up so it's a remake.

The last 2 ads show that you are comparing older games, which were likely $20 because they were "Greatest Hits". For example, Super Mario Kart came out in 92, and the games you are showing were launch titles that came out 3 years earlier. Hell, the last ad shows a N64, which came out 7 years after the Gameboy launched.

New releases were typically around $40 (I think $50 if they needed battery backup).

That B&W Toys R Us ad shows the GB itself at $50. Wisconsins minimum wage was $4.25/hr. I was initially going to do a comparison of inflation but discovered that its still only at $7.25/hr. Its really only gone up three dollars in twenty-eight years?

People really paid $70 for some Genesis games in 1996? That's $114.46 now. I wouldn't pay $5 for any of those games.

SNES game would regularly be that night as well. Im fairly certain that Street Fighter II Turbo was $75 at the Toys R Us by me.

I know for certain Link's Awakening wasn't $60 at launch on the GB, the remaster is overpriced, in fact the only games that hit that price on the GB were imports.

Why did they do that? The whole trilogy takes up 40 GB and dual layer Blu-Rays hold 50 GB.

Lets them use non-dual-layer discs, and more importantly, means burning the discs doesn't take as much time, allowing them to burn more with fewer machines running.

Are dual layer discs really that much more expensive to make? Also they don't burn the discs. They press them.

A huge part of price back then was how big the game was, SNES carts that demanded a crap ton of space to fit the game were usually far more expensive to manufacture. It's not like now where a lot of games come out on disc and you can put a crap ton of data on there for the same price as not much data.
