Yes

Tastes just like a Whopper but the texture is a bit off. If you told me it was beef I'd doubt it but I'd acquiesce eventually when I figured it wasn't worth arguing over.

Just looked it up and holy shit for something plant-based its still a lot of calories and fat. Is that normal for plant-based meat?

Yeah, at least for impossible burgers. Idk about all fake meat. It's not really about being 'healthy', just not meat.

I think I'd concur with this. I definitely do like it, though.

I tried it. It was good but it's like what, only 30 calories less than the Whopper itself? Seems kinda weird and pointless.

Isn't the point of plant-based fake meat the environmental impacts (i.e you're not raising, feeding and killing animals) rather than the health benefits?

Yeah plant based patties are about the environment, not our personal health.

Im just surprised something made of plants compared to beef is barely any different health wise. Its nice that its good environmentally, but I feel like its not gonna convert many people if its basically just as many calories/fat/etc?

I haven't, but only because I don't like Burger King.

I've had the Impossible Burger at twice at a place in SF and really enjoyed it. Firmly on the Impossible Burger hype train.

One thing to note is that a lot of fast food burgers already use the sort of fillers you may find in the impossible burger in their normal burgers. For example, remember how they found that taco bells beef was like only 30% beef?

It's good and all (I was the one that actually ordered it).

I'd eat it again, sure. But I'd probably just choose a regular Whopper in general since they tend to be more than a dollar cheaper and taste slightly better. Like most things marketed towards being "better" for you or the environment, they are of course worse on your wallet. Yeah it's just $1.50 or so perhaps, but it's just yet another option for "healthier" food that's probably overpriced. My big hangup with most food products like this is that they tend to do the song and dance about trying to make you feel better about spending more so you can help the environment or yourself. I'm just not really feeling that much.

But yeah it's pretty tasty. The patty itself is a little bit thinner than the typical one, at least mine was. The texture isn't so much off that I noticed it, but I wasn't blown away by the taste either. It was a slightly thinner whopper I paid a little more for.

I mean, the eventual idea is that production will improve to the point where it won't necessarily be more expensive

It's mostly just impressive that they are able to do a fairly good approximation of burger meat for not too much more

The restaurant I work at was carrying Impossible burgers up until they started working with Burger King and then they had "supply issues" so we switched to a different plant burger (Lightlife)

If a magic switch was pulled that made beef patties stop existing and this was the alternative I wouldn't be mad

Texture was a little weird. It wasn't bad, but it lacked the juiciness that I wanted from a burger. I will absolutely order it again though, because it wasn't bad, and it needs to take off for the sake of all our futures.

Between the two I think Impossible was better, but either one

Plants have fat (in this case coconuts) and they can put however much they want into the mix, so sure. It's only natural that a plant burger that mimics a meat burger will have a similar nutritional content.

But yeah the burger is $1 more now but in 20 years or so when beef is 10x more expensive, the notion of a fast food burger made with actual meat will be a ludicrous memory.

Yes, I liked it. I do think the texture is off for a whopper, but it does have the texture of a fattier patty. As for it not being better for you, well of course. They have to use a ton of plant fats to make it like the real thing.
