Those type of people ironically are more sensitive than the "snowflakes" they talk about. They're the "If you don't think I'm funny, you don't have a sense of humor. Because their friends laugh their jokes so surely that 100% translates to every other person in this world?

This mentality of course also applies to commedians they like. They'll never acknowledge the possibility of a rare miss.

I wasn't offended by Dave's special, it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. He had a couple good bits (like the car one) but much of the rest was just stuff that other people had said better before.

I don't consider myself that funny of a guy, so I definitely don't want to be watching one of the best comedians of my childhood repeat jokes that I myself had even thought of.

And then there were the ones that didn't just fall flat but instead just take me out of it. Like the F word / N word thing. Oh wow, a strawman. Stuff like that takes me out of the funnies, it makes me just think about how much the point is being missed.

Carlins politics were pretty wholesome, and true. I enjoyed Chappelles latest special but I will admit the stuff about celebrities getting cancelled fell pretty flat. One of Daves best qualities has always been his ability to relate to the little guy.

If your first reaction to something is "I bet the left hates this" then you probably were never there for entertainment. Dave's new special sucked compared to his other one I was disappointed because I know he can do better than that it's like he got lazy because he figured that as long as he pisses off the left he doesn't have to try.

I wouldn't say lazy, but it came off as he's really bitter about the current environment for comedians. "Hurr durr I'm gonna find something of yours in the past and am gonna cancel your career durr" joke was really petty. But you can tell he's really taken to heart the criticisms he has gotten. Both Burr and Dave talk about this, both on stage and in interviews how they keep getting reactions on opposite spectrum to their jokes. Where they do one show, people love it and even the demographic they targeted was slapping their knee laughing. Then at another show, someone looks visibly shaken and emotionally scarred upon reaction to the joke. Typing this all out now, I'd say it has to get to someone, cut into their ego, to witness their craft have such extreme reactions.

Not to mention that is literally how making specials work. You don't just write the material for your special and only use it there. You build it up by trying it out at clubs and keep tweaking it until the material is ready for a special. 4 years is probably an exaggeration too and I doubt he could show any proof. I have no problem admitting to being wrong if he can. I have a feeling we won't be seeing a response this.

The 99% is just as much of an agenda. If someone agrees with either score on this they're probably being manipulated imo. It was good tho. But people on both ends are going to extremes. It became a "pick your team and show complete loyalty" type thing. Intellectuals have no place in this one
