He does the Mandible Claw now though. Removing the horrible Sister Abigail as a finisher is half the battle. The other half was removing the terrible spooky gibberish promos.

You know I'm not even sure what The Fiend as a world champion does the more I think about it.

The character doesn't really work as a title holder for me. He feels more like an obstacle to overcome than a champion. Like what is his motivation for random violence. Once you have him beat Seth Rollins where does he go from there?

He appears and disappears at a whim so how are you going to book him in a title match. Does he even care about the title? Do people challenge Bray Wyatt during his silly promos and he's like "b-but I'm not the world champion, am I kids???"

I don't know. It just seems like it'd be aimless and sputter out after one feud, much like Bray's first title reign.

Well anyone can be hot enough to beat The Fiend they just need like one or two months of fresh coherent booking behind them.

That's what Kofi got that's what Wyatt got. It's not a coincidence they're both perceived as a big deal-- they feel special because no one gets logical consistent buildup in WWE without it just feeling like a string of increasingly pointless wins.

But I do have trouble seeing what feud progression is for The Fiend assuming he wins. Like I can't even figure out what a filler feud looks like beyond Rollins getting a rematch for no reason other than he gets one. I think it's a fundamental issue with the character. AJ Styles I see a lot of easy to do feuds. Scummy but talented guy with two goons is so easy.

I mean maybe it's possible to develop the character in a way where feuds that aren't OOH HE'S SCARY AND ATTACKING YOU RUN AWAY exist but as Bray Wyatt exists now it doesn't really work? Like I definitely see him as a good challenger for the title in concept, but not at this point-- really what you wanted to do is have him harass Rollins without getting a match. Throwing him off his game causes him to lose to AJ Styles, then you have him crush titleless Rollins 1v1, then AJ Styles can battle him later with his goons running interference to keep the Fiend away from actually getting the title.

I guess what I'm saying is a dude like that should never be a heel and feuding with a babyface with the title cause yeah your only out is to bury the title or put it on a guy who has no reason to want it and makes no sense to be put in matches for it. If he flips and is chasing the scummy champion you have a lot more ways to play it.

I actually think you were kinda on to something initially

Have Wyatt insist The Fiend is the champion, not him, and the title atleast for the time being satiated The Fiend, so he's no longer coming out willy nilly to attack people. Thus, anybody gunning for the title has to be able to lure Fiend back out somehow, whether it's because Wyatt refuses to put the title on the line otherwise, or out of that stupid pride babyfaces tend to have.

I think it could work, unlike the Finn Balor/Demon stuff, since WWE and Wyatt have already done a pretty good job of portraying them as two different... entities or whatever, instead of just... Wyatt putting on a mask/facepaint/whatever.

I hate that were dissecting WWE too, but really all they need to do is to come up with a real reason the Fiend wants the title. I havent been watching; maybe theyve done that, but I doubt it.

Once we know WHY he wants it, figuring out what comes next once he has it should be much simpler

(Also throwing a spanner in the works is Survivor Series where Champ fights Champ. But maybe thats it? Maybe the way to defeat The Fiend is with the Power of Positivity?)
