not quite. one, she doesn't even have enough games to qualify for this. two, issue was the free coverage and positive press with zero disclosure of any kind, not reviews. from there it spiraled outwards to the rather incestuous nature of indie game devs and certain journos. that's the only point listed i know is factually wrong so it's the only one i'm commenting on there.

She didn't need to air it out publicly at all - or at least not right now - if you believe the sister's post, that he has truly been working on bettering himself, AND Zoe's own statement that he was struggling mentally. Certainly this could have been resolved without someone being pushed to suicide, because their career and social life are over.

Its not the victims responsibility to worry about the consequences for the accuser when shes speaking out about his misconduct. He bears all responsibility for the consequences of his actions, whether to her or to himself.

even if he's trying to better himself and he's struggling mentally that's still not her problem. it is not the victim's responsibility to care for their abuser's well-being. apart from placing undue burden and stress on them it also makes the truth a lot more ineffective because the longer they wait the more likely facts will be distorted, claims unprovable, and fewer people will believe them. they should have free reign to come out with it when they're comfortable enough with it and want to.

also if you're trying to prevent others from getting hurt you absolutely air it publicly to minimize the chance of someone else being hurt. sunshine's the best medicine.

A woman accuses someone of a crime right away, they're suspected of ulterior motives. They get far more distrust than your standard "This is their side of the story, let's wait until we get all the facts".

so you're questioning the facts, want to know his side, or wonder what's omitted. that's fine. if that's your argument you won't get much pushback.

it hasn't been though. you've been arguing for her claims being true or, at the very least, more truthful than not. from there you've been saying that in a case where abuse happens it shouldn't be said publicly or waited on. that's wrong, it's an argument that only protects abusers and makes it a lot harder for someone to come out with the truth and if you care for the facts of the case you want as recent as possible to get as much evidence as possible while it's there and because that's going to be the best chance memory will be accurate. questioning that "truth" is fine, going broader it's one of the issues with #metoo in general, but you shouldn't be making actual victims have some sort of limitation.

I asked a couple buddies from church about it without mentioning names, one male one female, and they both went if she has no proof and his family takes her to court, shes beyond screwed. You can make a distinction between a mass sex-trafficker or a serial rapist, and a shitty + controlling boyfriend. Epstein and Cosby were monsters who at no point attempted to reform themselves or show remorse. What Holowka did was fucked up but not nearly on that level, and according to his sister he was recently trying to change, and was improving.

An artist I respect a lot pointed out that people get a dopamine kick from just going after people, regardless of the facts or the situation - I think that's where we're at now.

I'm not going to make a topic saying that ZQ is to blame for this, but if someone does, I can understand why they feel that way. I wouldn't say I'm supporting the accusation, just the human being who made the topic. You may feel it's the same thing. Your point (and Icon's) is that I shouldn't give anti-ZQ sentiment even an inch. You could be right. But tbh, if all the replies had just been "Here's why you're wrong" instead of "fuck you piece of shit, trash topic" I wouldn't have felt the need to say anything at all.

I think most people are actually in agreement with me that we want to see nuanced and respectful discussion of this topic, they just felt the OP's post wasn't, and therefore deserved scorn. And their reaction was different than mine.

It does seem to me like this situation isn't the same as those other two situations. I see your point though.

I think my stance is that ZQ had every right to say what she said (and was likely telling the truth), that what Alec did is wrong, and that mob culture is bad. My point wasn't to make this about mob culture though, just to defend OP.
