The fact that his story doesn't last very long makes his character more enjoyable. I don't really get bored by him. I definitely got bored by Jotaro though.

josuke is great because he is still a hero, and at the same time he is still a kid and actually acts like a kid and do stupid stuff and having good time, while at the same time still a great friend and a good guy with jonathan's righteous sense of justice.

Haven't read Jojolion at all.

Joseph will always be my favorite. He's the most Jojo of all of the Jojos and watching him wriggle and squirm and get through every fight by the skin of his teeth and sheer cleverness and willpower is the best. Maybe my favorite shounen hero of all time simply because he's not an endless collection of powerup sequences. Heck, he isnt even that strong period.

Johnny is the best written Jojo (that I've seen, haven't seen Gappy at all) in that he feels immensely more human than the others. It helps that Araki's writing style was evolving a lot during SBR, but he, his friendship with Gyro, weird personality and overall journey are just heads and shoulders above everything else. Probably better than Joseph overall, but these are my personal favorites tbh

Josuke feels like Araki took everything about the Jojos previous to Josuke and improved on them to make him. He's a really well-developed character, and even though Part 4 has a lot of weird pacing issues Josuke stays pretty consistent throughout. I love his hotblooded-but-a-heart-of-gold personality, and he has a funny bent to him that feels different than others. Out of maybe all the Jojos, Josuke is the one I want to see more of.

Jotaro isn't a character, he's a plot device, and I respect that. He's a stoic kenshiro-style badass that's really fun to watch rather than being boring to me. Yes, he is insanely powerful to a degree that takes the tension out of a lot of stuff he's in, but I feel like Araki knew that during Stardust Crusaders because Jotaro isn't often used as a member of a tense knockdown standup fight, but more of a tension reliever. Everything is a buildup to the point where he's going to oraora the shit out of someone, and when he does it feels -so- nice. He's also got quirks to him that amuse me like being terrible at one-liners and somewhat cognizant of that fact, and the idea that he pushed people away from him all throughout part 3 but losing everyone taught him not to anymore. It's subtle and fun

Giorno is a victim of a premise that wasn't built on enough, as well as the fact that Part 5 has one of the best supporting casts of any Jojo ever. The idea of Dio's son is barely touched on and almost just seems like a random useless fact about him than anything important, and that's -sort- of the point to a degree? Part 5 is about resisting fate and predestination, and Giorno is doing that by having values and good in him unlike his deplorably evil father. But it's very rarely pushed and displayed and is almost wholly background subtext to the part. He also gets overshadowed by characters like Bucciarati and Mista who are just way more interesting personality wise. Really could have used more development.

Everything about Jolyne is dragged down to me by the fact that she's in Stone Ocean. I am biased, but I really really dislike it. I don't like almost any of the supporting cast, and unfortunately that drags her down immensely because she's constantly interacting with them. Her learning not to be selfish and obstinent is a neat little journey, but not enough for me. I just don't care for her or her story.

I remember really liking Jonathan when I first read Phantom Blood and being really skeptical about a sudden random new protagonist because I went into the series blind beyond watching some of the original Part 3 OVA. Any and all sadness and longing for his return was washed away for me though in the same way that missing the 9th Doctor and getting the 10th fixed me up in a jiffy. He's vanilla white bread shounen nothingness, and while I don't hate Phantom Blood, everything and everyone in it is more interesting than Jonathan himself.

Gappy is great because he is basically Giorno done right, and more. his personality ties well into his character, identity and story. some people say he is bland but the overall theme of gappy's story is is to finding identity (literally and figuratively). he lost his memory, and search for an identity, at the same time he also forming a connection and place to belong in morioh from the people who helped him, especially yasuho and the higashikata family, and upon that, fighting for those people and himself. he is an evolution and a jigsaw of many jojo characters, both heroes and villains that is enhanced by araki's new style of writing that is less shonen, but more seinen.

jojolion overall can dethrone SBR as my favorite jojo part if araki pulled the ending. the writing is great, characters are amazing and it is the most intricate clash of motivations from different factions, and progressing the mystery while still keep people wondering. if you join a discussion of each jojolion chapters, you really wonder and feel engaged in the mystery. like the bad guys they fight aren't just fodders the final boss send toward them, but almost (okay not all) all of them have reason to where they are, and why they are fighting the jobros. it is also an evolution of part 5's boss vs bruno vs la squadra that the fact there are multiple factions with opposing objectives that eventually clash, but the way it is done in part 5 is kinda unsatisfying because la squadra is basically just another bad guys the job bros have to fight and defeat until the plot twist in the middle.

i think alot of the flak jojolion get is from the fact that it is monthly publication and it CAN feel very slow because each chapters usually end with a question we haven't the answer to. there is also worry that the classic "Araki Forgot" trope, because of how deep and intricate the mystery is, he will not be able to tie it up in a satisfying manner. IF araki don't forget and finish it well, i believe jojolion will be hailed a masterpiece.

Tbh I've actually only seen the dubs on Toonami. Is there a place to legally and cheap or freely read the manga? I would rather do that then switch to subs for season 5 when I've already stuck with Toonami for the anime.

TC kinda has it pretty good. The bottom three are a tough argument, Giorno's a nothing character, Jotaro actually sucks and has being hideously overrated weighing him down further and Jonathan's just a really simplistic character.
I can agree with Jonathan being bottom because at least the other two get you talking but Giorno or Jotaro's tough. I guess I say Jotaro's better than Giorno since he at least has more different characters to at least try to bounce off of.

Josuke should be higher though.
