do you have any games you did not finish OR maybe even did not get very far in for whatever reason (time, difficulty, etc.) but still consider a favorite? i guess we can use the term "favorite" a little loosely here.

Okami would probably be the closest for me and while I wouldn't put it on my shortlist of FAVORITES i've always considered it to be close to it. Maybe "having potential to be an all-time favorite" would be the way to phrase it. Literally just running around in that was the first time I felt like "this game is amazing" and I put like 14 or so hours into the PS2 version and then decided to just get it on PS3 and finish it there. which didn't happen.

Baldur's Gate 2, sort of? I've finished the Shadows of Amn portion several times, but despite never playing it without Throne of Bhaal installed, I always lose interest before finishing it (sometimes because I just want to restart BG2 instead.)

I'm not a person who plays a lot of games to completion, I usually stop playing anything once it stops being fun for me. and there's no real guarantee that a game I finished will make my favorites. it's more just based on how much I enjoyed the game for the duration that I was into it, and maybe how many hours total it kept me entertained.

granted, Bloodborne is my favorite game and it's also the only game I've ever gotten a platinum trophy for. I wasn't even trying. it just sort of happened over the course of me playing the game over and over.

on the other hand, take Fire Emblem for instance. I beat the Birthright route of Fates. I've beaten Shadow Dragon. multiple times (on every difficulty except H5, which I've attempted a few times). I've beaten 7 and 8. I wouldn't consider any of these in my favorite games. interestingly I like FE6 way more than Fates or 7 or Shadow Dragon, and maybe more than FE8... it's the only one I haven't beaten out of that group!

Wouldn't call Twilight Princess a favorite but I liked it a lot
Played it 3 times
Stopped at the final (I think?) Dungeon every single time because I wanted to backtrack to get everything
And for some reason backtracking to collect every single in that game is...super boring and made me lose interest every single time

I never managed to beat FFV, but I love it. I've actually gotten very close Exdeath twice and lost my save file both times.

I have started FFT several times and loved it every time but I always get distracted grinding for all the jobs and stuff and burn out by midgame

FFV and VI are in roughly the same boat

Lost my Persona 3 save file like right before the last dungeon. Eh, I like 4 and 5 more anyway.

Valkyria Chronicles was on the fast track to becoming one of my faves and then I got to the megatank level and have never been able to talk myself into trying that again

Culdcept Revolution I just can't beat (what I assume to be) the last level. Actually that whole series qualifies for this topic.

Really liked Digimon: Digital Card Battle as a kid, but never beat it.

Im about 1/3 of the way through Mother 3 and already consider it one of the best GBA games. Gotta go back and finish it at some point.
