I'm going to be a cook for a department within a grocery store in Olympia, WA. The cincher for my interview was when I told them I had experience handling a wok.

I can taste my freedom already. Now I need to get more books out, move into a residence by here, fix my bike, and then I'll be able to play my games again.

Hey, which one? I live near Olympia, and I think wolfy does as well?

And weren't you in Cali? So you're gonna move up to Washington?

I moved to WA a month and a half ago, and am in Centralia at the moment. Give it a couple months now, and I should be residing in Olympia proper. I like it up here better than the high desert of SoCal.

Wolfy moved up to Tacoma a few weeks ago iirc.

And I will be at Haggen.

Centralia

literally where I live haha. Olympia is cool, but places are a bit more expensive there, so my wife, who's in med school decided it would be better if we lived in centralia

Congratulations! I hope you have a great time working there. It's good that you can get your bike fixed so you don't have to wok everywhere. Harharhar.

But for real, that's great news!

Neat. My folks bought their really nice house post-retirement (sorta, since Mom still teaches classes) here, so they're letting me stay for a few months while I got back on my feet. They kept suggesting the Olympia area for my searches due to their perception of redneck conservatives being in abundance here. *shrugs*

My little sis has an apartment in Olympia, near Lacey, and has expressed a desire lately to have a roommate, so we'll see how that goes in time for Halloween when I should have the funds to think about moving about.

XD... I made a similar pun to myself earlier. But yeah, it will be good to replace my handle covers and tires while adjusting the brakes and gears as needed. Maybe I should get a front light too (the seat has one in the back already). Then I will be mobile again. That's always good.

Hagen rocks, has the only decent Munster cheese in the area, and best skirt steak for tacos etc. It's a bit more pricey then other options, but it's usually worth it. That is a great place to be working. You can easily get a place nearby as well if it doesn't work out with your sister. There are a bunch of cheap apartment complexes right up by Harrison, and often you'll see rooms going up for $300-$400 a month because of that (3 bedrooms for about $1100-$1200).

Congrats!!

I would love to have a job cooking on a wok actually lol.

Pretty sure that's law in most states, if you ride at night, anyway.

Yeah. I've been avoiding riding at night when I can, and holding a small flashlight on the handlebar when few times I had to go a short distance in the dark, such as dropping something in the post office.

My mom used to buy some vegan faux chicken strips there for tacos until the company temporarily discontinued it. Said strips are due to come back soon, so I might be able to strike a deal with my mom if she wants to pay me the discounted price for a supply.

We'll see how things go with my little sis. It will be nice to be able to do my usual Internet and gaming again, at least.

After a mix-up with the paperwork that delayed things a bit, my orientation day, and for realsies this time, is the 29th. I'll be paid for those hours too, and it's 13 bucks an hour plus benefits.

All this, and I have my stories I'm working on too so I can make additional money as a writer.

Nice!! 13 is pretty low, but shrug, it's just to start, I'm pretty sure Haegen pays it's employees pretty well. Might be due to needing training etc.

Also the min wage increases have been messing things up.

I believe min wage in washington jumpts to $13.50 Jan 1st 2020, so about 4 months from now...least you know you'll be getting a raise at that point lolz!!

But yeah, starting someone now at $13 is pretty low, I must say i'm a bit surprised, I thought more of Heagen, their prices are higher and the quality of their food is better, so I thought they also paid their employees more.

Plus benefits, including insurance coverage that kicks in over time. Like medical and pharmaceutical kick in first, and then dental and vision a few months later. There is also the 10% discount on groceries there.

Sci-fi, but yes, I am she. I have more stories on the way too, but it will be a while before the next is ready for publication, which will probably be my Fantasy-Western hybrid with a murder mystery at the core of its plot.

I just moved from washington, had a Hagen down the street from my house, though usually drove down to the nearest windixie for grocery shopping. yeah hagens was usually pricier, but for some reason every once in a while they had crazy good prices on some stuff.

It's their quality foods. They cut their own meat and veggies, and bake things daily (doughnuts in the morning, still soft and oily by midday).
