Its kinda funny XIV is doing better than most of the post-X FF games. I dont even know who any of those guys are other than Gaius because hes been in before.

Ff14 is a great game

XIV is the yearly fad.

I'm not gonna put the game down or anything since it seems to be very good, but this is kinda like when people were interested in Dangerous Ariana and now no one cares about FFBE at all.

It's about time XIV got it's due. It's always been well regarded since ARR came out, but no-one's favourite FF game, so never really gets pushed. Sometimes it takes new content being released that's utterly adored by the playerbase to achieve some focus.

I think a lot of new people just came to FF14 too because of Shadowbringers.

I know I didnt care much about the characters from the game until about two months ago when I went through all of Heavensward and Stormblood to get caught up

XII is one of my favorites but it isnt for the characters. Ashe is the best in it, and was a pretty low priority for me last year but I can barely save some rounds and today was one of them

Also I am all in on Dark Nation Nation which is a conflict of interests. But besides the point

Tbh the only reason I'm throwing any support to Estinien, is because Kain's booted right now. Probably helps that I'm a Dragoon in XIV, so I actually kinda care about him.

Gaius is kinda cool I guess, but no reason I would support him over cooler villains like Kefka and ExDeath

Estinien is legit. Probably a top 15 FF character for me.

FFXIV is fun but I feel like it's a tough sell because it takes a while to reach any of the good stuff. Gameplay-wise, all the jobs are balanced for max level play, so low-level gameplay is boring - you only have a few skills that you use over and over. Plot-wise, the writing didn't really hit its stride until the end of A Realm Reborn. There's a lot of good story (Heavensward and Stormbringers are solid, Shadowbringers is great) it just takes patience to get there. Probably more patience than I would've had if I weren't playing with friends.

But Shadowbringers ranks up there with the best of Final Fantasy in plot/characters so I'm glad I stuck with it.
