Like classic Disney films, not talking about stuff like The Avengers and all that.

The Lion King has Simba and Scar actually fight, and Beauty and the Beast has a good fight between Beast and Gaston. It seems like most of the others that I can think of more have a dramatic climax that just results in a loss of balance mid-monologue.

I mean, that's more or less what happens between the beast and gaston

Yeah, kinda, but at least they fight first.

There's not really any Disney movies I can think of where the hero just straight-up murders the bad guy. I guess Hercules yeets Hades pretty hard.

In Aladdin, Aladdin tries to fight Jafar when he swings the sword at him but Jafar is a scorceror by that point so he dodges all of his attacks. Aladdin ends up outsmarting him anyway

Yeah, I originally mentioned him and I thought they actually "fought," but he only hit him one time. So I'm not sure if that's considered to be a fight.

I mean, it makes sense. The majority of these movies preach that "might = right" is the wrong philosophy, and most of the villains are undone by hubris or by the power they wanted to control to teach a better lesson than "don't be a jerk or you'll get beat up by a superhero."

Mulan, with Mushu's help, intentionally hits Shan Yu with a large firework that carries him into a tower full of fireworks that explodes. It's not an oops, he slipped and fell to his death kind of thing. She checks to be sure it lines up, asks Mushu if he's ready, and then pins the guy down so he can't dodge the firework. Then gets off the roof as quickly as she can because she knows the explosion will be huge.

For all the issues that these movies have, that is kind of something good.

Yeah I was thinking Tarzan. Though technically Clayton does himself in.

Also The Little Mermaid. I mean, Eric might not be the hero, but it's definitely the most brutal defeat of a Disney villain by the hands of a Disney hero.

Has a Disney hero ever directly killed a villain by choking them, shooting them, or stabbing them? I think the closest thing is probably shoving them off a ledge

Yeah it's a valid point that Mulan definitely actively kills Shan Yu.

Eric "stabs" Ursula
Mulan "shoots" Shan Yu

Can't think of any choking incidents outside of Clayton which is definitely not intentional by Tarzan.

Also, that said, I wasn't really counting Eric because he's not the main protagonist. If we do include him, then yeah, Prince Phillip also kills Maleficent.

In terms of "the main character deliberately tries to kill the villain in a fight to the death," all I can think of is

1) Simba throws Scar off a cliff into the fire (kind of only coincidental that he survived to then be eaten by hyenas)
2) Mulan blows up Shan Yu
3) Hercules knocks Hades into the swirling soul pool thing

Even though it was the equivalent of Chip trying to beat Gaston in a fight, I think Mowgli had every intention of killing Shere Khan in The Jungle Book.
