I just don't know if any of them can bear fruit without removing 98% of Congress.

Too many people are paid to not give a shit about our problems.

Too many people willingly embrace these problems, so much as "my side wins".

We can vote all we want, but changing the hearts of people isn't something that can easily be done. If at all, in some cases.

These are people who looked at the Sandy Hook Massacre, and did everything they could to do absolutely nothing.

The point is that some here have outright said this and others seem to believe this that the conducting of hateful acts and terrorism can only be done by the right.

You can almost see the snicker when you all go about politicizing the shootings and acting like it is the evil Republicans at work again.

Both sides have extremists which are awful people. We shouldn't forget that and try painting it all on one side.

I simply asked if you condemned the terrorism that is done by Antifa, which is widely documented (you is plural btw for the opposing speakers to me in this topic), and instead of saying "yes, of course. Who wouldn't?" It bogged down into a huge debate where people tried to deflect, jump through hoops, and move goalposts to avoid doing so.

I mean, personally? I think each household should be limited to EXACTLY one handgun (for home defense and concealed carry defense when away from the home), one shotgun (for home defense), and one hunting rifle (for hunting). And every single one of these firearms should be registered in a national database, just like we do with cars. Oh, and every gun owner should need to be nationally-registered, again, like driver's licenses. I just don't see why any person needs to have a whole arsenal at their disposal, but at least this isn't infringing on anyone's second amendment rights, since they CAN still keep and bear arms. Definitely no assault weapons though.

Yes but it also requires absolutely no input from congress. Change happens from the people first, the law only follows behind when it has no other choice. We shouldn't even be talking about congress until there's a shared public sentiment.

But there is no consensus because the prevailing ideas are all weak and authoritarian and don't address the issues. The proponents just repeat themselves over and over hoping that the latest shooting will be the straw that breaks the camel's back and finally people will give in to their bad idea.

Basically, there is little effort put into changing hearts, only vying for your own heart.

I don't agree that the every day civilian needs unfettered access to guns. Even if you agree they should be in their homes, I don't agree they should be openly carried unless going to a specific place to use them, such as hunting or a gun range or target shooting. I think only law enforcement, security, and military should be openly carrying guns outside of the home without reason.

Everyone has a gun built into their body/human computer system. When you engage your gun to active, it alerts all the other humans in the area through their human computer system (animals will be unaffected for hunting purposes), and also sends a signal to local law enforcement letting them know that you have engaged your gun. In the case of multiple guns engaging, your computer system will display and highlight the order of guns becoming engaged, so you can assess the risk in public areas.

Might be a few years until it is ready, but it's a solution.

I always blame both sides for the lack of gun control.

The Republicans will talk about mental health(While trying to reduce health care available to people), the Democrats will talk about gun control for a few days to appease their constituents and then take absolutely 0 action while it all blows over and people forget about it again.
