Monster is our SMFAS 6 Champion!

While not the closest final we've ever had, this was the final with the most votes.

Monster got the most votes for a winner beating Cowboy Bebop's 215 in SMFAS 2 and Madoka is now the strongest loser beating Cowboy Bebop's 161 from SMFAS 1.

On the whole, this was probably the most stress free SMFAS contest I've run, sure a lot of rounds got delayed or cancelled due to my work schedule, but nothing was as bad as SMFAS 3.
Oh and thanks guys for being pretty chill throughout the contest. (Even if things started to get a little heated when Goblin Slayer picked up some steam!)

With Monster's win, Madhouse now has a second crown to its title. I'm also glad to see Monster win the year I got to see Naoki Urasawa.
Pretty good year for me in terms of anime stuff in the IRL space so far.

So! Who's gonna be watching Monster after this contest and who will watch some of the other series that made the top 10?

You guys really can't go wrong with Kaguya, Antarctica and Mob Psycho! Monogatari though might be like marmite. I'll let other users promote the other series in the top 10.

alright that's around what I thought it would be, not a complete blowout but still a dominating victory for Monster. Congrats, like I said before I read a chunk of the manga and I liked it but never watched the anime. Can't say I dislike it so I'm fine with this result. I think the closest I'm gonna get to having one of my own personal favorite series' win was last year with HeroAca getting 4th. Which I can't really complain about and both it and Mob Psycho going far this year was nice too. Good stuff all around, yes even the Goblin Slayer run even with how ridiculous it is.

best anime wins, awesome! too bad about Death Note, which is something i'd support to win in just about any other circumstance. maybe next year.

if i was gonna watch one show from this it'd probably be LotGH. Yankees and i have pretty similar tastes and that's the one show he likes more than Monster. i'd also consider watching the others in the top 10 i haven't seen except maybe Goblin Slayer (that one clip that was posted was terrible). though if i watch AoT it will be with extremely low expectations due to my brother.

I believe that the anime is a pretty faithful adaptation of the manga if you want to try that instead

Sorry, I would have kept it up but Hyouka needed every vote I had at that stage. I was considering letting it go in exchange for keeping Bloom going but I think it paid off since it got top 20. Maybe after S2 (yes I am optimistic)!

I have a few problems with Monster, but they're mostly personal ones. I thought the characters were fairly strong but I struggled to care about them throughout, and the plot is very tight and well structured, but it just didn't click with me. I didn't think at any point while watching it "damn, this sucks", but at times it felt a slog and I wasn't totally engaged. I think I was watching a lot of stuff at the time, particularly darker shows, and I was probably a bit burned out which would colour my perception. However, I just don't particularly enjoy it on a personal level and there's no reason for me to care about it in this.

On the other hand, Madoka has done really well. It's not my favourite, but it might crack my top 10. Definitely one of the strongest 12 episode series off the top of my head, as I think someone mentioned before. Good run from it, and I can't complain a lot about the winner. Monster is a well made show and clearly a lot of people really like it. There's a lot of worse things and less entertaining things that could have won too.

So happy, the long-suffering Monster gets its moment in the sun & I can officially add a rewatch of it onto the anime queue, 13 years later... I'll also pick up Madoka to give it a watch, at least it's just one season. And a Death Note rewatch for good measure since I recently picked up its "Omega Edition" too.

I definitely want more people to watch Monster, supposedly the DVDs can be rented through Netflix - https://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/Naoki-Urasawa-s-Monster/70205011 - and that appears to be the only way? Let me know if you're interested in watching it and know another way to (or we can figure out a way for me to get you to watch it, if you don't mind subs, not sure how though...)

First save-my that something I was backing won, let alone did decent (5th, 4th, 5th for the three before this). Credit to Xuxon and the rest of the Monster crew, and Bane too for saving it when I offered an NR for it like a month back when it was in scary territory.

I haven't watched anything at all from this season yet. Read the manga for Vinland, Demon Slayer and Dr Stone, and haven't touched Fire Force. Too much good stuff to catch up on (or rewatch, as I tend to do). Might give them a go in a few months.

I also think that Isekai Quartet getting in is very unlikely. Only Re:Zero got in this year, and I haven't heard anyone who likes the original material who preferred IQ (although that's predictable).

Haven't seen Monster yet. Read the 1st chapter awhile back after reading 20th Century Boys but I think I needed a break after that. I should get back into that as it's been...many years since I read that.

Perhaps Steins;Gate will be the next anime to get its due!

Can't get mad at Monster because I haven't watched it yet.

Things could change, but early front runners this year are Mob Psycho II, likely Vinland, #1 will probably be Beastars unless they fuck it up not that it will even come out this year thanks Netflix.

Well see if Re:Zero 2 hits the Fall season, no date on that yet.
