Execution for the offspring on the belief they're genetically predisposed to crime. Could actually be the case or not, I don't know.

Like future society adopts a deterministic/material worldview concerning behavior and genetics and justifies execution on the belief they can stop crimes before they happen.

Maybe it's a replacement to an out-of-control surveillance state or maybe it even complements it.

But I guess they don't completely understand how genes affect behavior yet. Or they want to take into account association and environment. That's why the future government targets people who have already committed crimes instead of just carrying out a mass DNA census.

It wouldn't happen because that's not how genetics works.

Nah, including friends, acquaintances, spouses and distant family is just crazy. They get the DNA warrants. Blanket eugenics for everyone else.

Ahh but see it's fine because it's killing people the authorities want dead. Which means that's what they'd want people to be genetically predisposed to.

In a future where nobody really dies of old age (due to medical techniques/cloning organs etc), children could be considered a privilege, and if you commit a crime (of which most are punishable by death at this point, no more imprisonment), all offspring under a certain age could be exterminated as well (as they are not old enough to have their own autonomy in society.

This would get complicated by your spouse etc though, since they would still have a right to the children etc, so would probably only go into effect if both parents were convicted, or only one parent remained alive (for instance if a father killed the mother, then the father AND kids would be killed).

In such a society though, everyone would probably be monitored constantly (almost already there), and crimes would be very rare, so any that do occur, are probably extreme (or become extreme since the penalty to almost all crimes is death, after commiting one crime, nothing stopping you from commiting a ton more before your caught (although you would probably get caught very quick).

That is also if such a future society doesn't have all children be community kids, nobody knows who the parents are etc, which would make the most sense....especially while still reducing the population to whatever level it will be kept at (eventually allowing 1 new child per every adult to keep the population stable).
