If he believes I'm town and thinks Chris is scum, there is a very obvious benefit- stopping a mislynch.

My issue isn't with him stopping a lynch under those circumstances. Its with ANNOUNCING he's doing so. Like, why? What gain is there in him saying "Yeah, I'm mayor and you're not lynching HB today?" If he'd tried to push a different lynch or something I could *maybe* see it but he's done nothing of the sort. So we're in this state where, allegedly, someone who is easily confirmed as town has outted themself for no perceivable gain.

Outing himself in this manner is not out of character for Ulti. And Mayors generally only have one shot, so announcing you intend to protect someone with it seems like a decent plan to me.

I'd actually argue this is probably a worse play than the mayor play of yore where he held tried to bully town into a lynch. At least that tries to accomplish something. This is, what, trying to get the benefits of being a mayor without "wasting" your power? It's absurd to consider anyone would play mayor like that without a fundamental misunderstanding of how gathering information in the game works. If our Liege Chris was not bolstered by Lea's conviction in the cause of exposing the false lord Ulti, this would just be killing discussion.

To me this line makes no sense as a Mayor particularly considering Ulti told Hb to claim at 3 votes first.

It's just cost benefits of dumb vanilla fakeclaim vs scum fakeclaim for me. Ulti being Mayor would be the most surprising result at the moment.

Lopen if I may propose a bit of psychology here, I don't think it is in scum Ulti's best interest the next game after surviving a very long time to make ballsy plays day 1 when everyone remembers his scum game. I think his scum equity here is low.

Lopen digging in to me about what he felt like was a scum slip seemed genuine to me, which is why I didn't poke him harder over it. It just felt like low grade scum hunting, which is more effort than a lot of people have put in so far. I readily admit I goofed while I was tunnelling Panthera and someone was right to dig at me a bit for it. He's off track but at least he had something of a reason.

No, what bothers me with Lopen right now is that if Chris is scum then Lopen is DEFINITELY his scum buddy. Lea's sheeping Chris is obviously jest. Lopen joined that wagon later on and it kinda feels like something was discussed on the scum board as all the scum players finally got online. Right now I'm expecting Chris, Lopen, and one of either Plum or Sultan to flip scum (the latter two based on availability, assuming they got to the scum board late). If they've got a 4th (and with 15 I expect four scum) then I haven't twigged to who it is now.

If Ulti is backing off his no lynch of HB then I'm off that wagon. I was never convinced it was needed except to test Ulti so if that's not a thing I'd rather lynch someone who actually looks shifty.
