So my store has a F'Real milkshake maker:
fti2PBL

Basically, you grab a cup from the cooler that starts as just a frozen block. You put it in the machine, choose a thickness, and it blends it for you right there in about 20 seconds.

I just had a dumbass customer (surprise!) bring one un-blended up to the counter. Not entirely unusual, as some people will pay before they blend it which is nice and we actually prefer. Here's how it went down:

Customer: *pays and starts walking out of the store*
Me: Um, sir? Excuse me. You need to blend that before you can eat it.
Customer: What?
Me: The milkshake. It's just a frozen block right now. You can't eat it. You just need to run it through the blender by the cooler real quick. It's right over here...
Customer: *follows me to the blender*
Me: Just peel the lid off all the way, pop the cup in the holder, and it'll ask you how thick you want it.
Customer: Can't I just eat it?
Me: What? It's a milkshake, but right now it's just a frozen block of ice. You can't really eat it.
Customer: *points at the frozen block inside his cup* But this is ice cream right here. I just want to eat that.
Me: Well, it's a milkshake, not ice cream. And it's frozen solid. You're not going to be able to eat it like that. That's what the blender's here for.
Customer: You don't sell ice cream?
Me: What? Well yes, we do. There's a big ice cream freezer right there. But you bought a milkshake.
Customer: So I can't just eat this ice cream?
Me: Sir, that's not ice cream. That's a milkshake.
Customer: What?
Me: That's a vanilla milkshake. See? *points to literally the biggest word on the packaging, "MILKSHAKE"*
Customer: Oh. I didn't...umm...alright, how does this thing work then?
Me: Just put the cup in the holder, and then choose the thickness you want on the touchscreen here. You can get it blended thin, regular, or thick.
Customer: What if I don't like it thin?
Me: ...then don't pick thin?
Customer: Oh, I get to choose?
Me: Yes. Right here. On the touchscreen that's asking you which thickness you'd like.
Customer: I just want some ice cream.
Me: Well, we have some in that freezer. You can take a look. But you already bought the milkshake so you might as well use it.
Customer: Oh...nevermind.

He then handed me the unblended milkshake and walked out without even looking at the ice cream. How do people this stupid manage to exist? Dude was at least in his mid-20's, too. It just blows my mind sometimes how people have been able to keep themselves from dying when they're so oblivious to everything around them. The ice cream freezer is literally 5 feet away from the milkshake display. And the biggest words plastered over everything are "MILKSHAKES AND SMOOTHIES" in all caps on basically every piece of the display and the products. You basically have to be intentionally ignoring it to not see it.

I'm not a big fan of milkshakes and smoothies personally, but a buddy bought one and let me try it. Mint chocolate chip. It was pretty good. I'll still take a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream any day. But considering it's a gas station milkshake, it's a solid choice for late-night munchies.

I mean, you really don't want to eat them without blending. We've had the blender malfunction before, so we've had to just let a couple of them melt and throw them away. When they're melted without having been blended, they look really nasty. The components stay separated and I'm sure some of them are beyond disgusting without being properly mixed in.

It's story time folks, grab some popcorn.

We have a cart pusher at work. A machine that helps us bring in grocery carts 20 at a time(as compared to the regular 6 at a time which is regulation). Today I watched someone get into their pickup and drive into it trying to get out of a parking space(driving forward, not backing into it). Saw that it was in front of them, still drove into it.

A couple months ago, and I still remember this vividly. I had a customer drive into a space and then proceed to get pissed off at me because I wouldn't move the cart in front of her car. I was walking with the cart machine and it was extremely busy, and I wasn't going to stop to move one cart, 2 feet to the side because it was a small cart, and our machine pushes big carts.

The amount of times I've seen people walk in front of my machine while I was trying to unload carts into our store, and try to take one off the end of the stack instead of going to the ones already in the cart area is astronomical.

Fire alarm went off at work. Instead of tossing their frozen stuff in the freezer next to their cart, they left 3 boxes of unopened chicken wings in their cart to dethaw. Meanwhile, that same shift, someone didn't feel like putting a Rutabaga back and put it in the freezer with the ice cream.

A guy from Jamaica came to my cash with a full stack of the small sampler ice creams(smaller than the ben and jerry cases), and said "all of these for 1 dollar?" "No sir, they are a dollar each", "what a rip off".

A wife and her husband were actively getting pissed off at the of the Customer Service people because and I quote "they wouldn't take back an open bag of diapers without a receipt".

I was in the middle of cleaning one of the bathrooms one day(a single person bathroom), and a guy ignores my closed sign, walks in and starts taking a piss while I was cleaning the bathroom. What's worse, he tried to strike up a conversation, while I was there dumbstruck that he walked in ignoring the sign, with there being another public washroom 5 feet away.

Hell, my buddy told me a story of a woman who couldn't get into the womens washroom because it was being used, so she took a dump in one of the aisles.

I've seen people push small carts into big carts. I've seen everything from full trash bags, to a kitty carrier full of kitty litter(full of waste), and a full used diaper left in carts.

People, I've found, are just idiots. No sense of right and wrong.

There's a big difference between "hey, store employee guy, can you show me how this works" and "I want ice cream, so let me buy this thing labeled as milkshake and then throw it away and leave when the employee tells me how to use it."

Honestly though, you have to be very stupid to not figure it out yourself. The machine has a big screen that tells you how it operates. With a touch screen that says "touch here to start" and then walks you through it step-by-step.

The directions are literally on the machine though.

I feel the TC's pain. I once worked had one f these machines, and had this convo many times.

The machine we had wasn't this advanced though, and we only had three flavors. Glad to see that they've upgraded their company a little bit. Perhaps I should go get myself one of theses soon.

I've witnessed a similar incident, albeit I was just another customer in the store when the clerk was having this kind of conversation with someone else.

In that particular case the other customer was likely drunk though, and wasn't quite grasping that their was a frozen block in the cup already that needed to be blended, rather they were baffled that the machine wasn't dispensing the milkshake into the cup, and when they *did* finally realize there was something already in the cup, they just got confused further about why the machine dropped a block of ice cream into the cup instead of giving them a milkshake.

Shit was hilarious, but I could tell the clerk just wanted to drop dead right then and there.
