Fortunately, you can still 100% the game without starting over. You just missed some items. Find a guide online and grab the remaining items to get the 100% ending. Or be lame and watch it on Youtube.

Echoes is my favorite. I thought the story of Echoes is the best of the three. The story is complex without beating you over the head with a cutscene every few minutes.

The few cutscenes in the game are significant and add to the lore.

In MP's case, I'm ok with just never being done. I will never look up all the secrets because then I won't want to replay it anymore. Plus, it's cool to outdo yourself on repeat playthroughs.

Harder to find stuff, if that's what you mean, but way easier to not die.

I hated Echoes. Half the game world is this nasty muddy shadowy crap, it didn't have interesting beams, it was hard to figure out and half the time I was tempted to just set the controller down and do something else for like an hour or whatever it is for Jarvis to finally tell me where to freaking go.

interesting. I found echoes to have harder bosses, harder forced encounters, more deadly generic enemies, and of course the existence of areas that cause constant passive damage

which parts of prime1 did you die a lot in?

It's not that I died a lot in Prime 1, but that I barely died at all in Prime 2.

Omega Pirate usually kills me a handful of times times, and of course the final boss, then a couple parts in the Phazon mines which are particularly long stretches between save points.

But in Prime 2, I died once in my first playthrough (before Dark Samus and final boss), and that was against Quadraxis, and was entirely because I couldn't figure out how to get on its head when it starts floating and it just slowly picked me off over the following 20 minutes or so that I spent raging at the head always flying away and raging even harder at the times when I would legitimately jump on it but Samus wouldn't stick like she's supposed to (turns out you're supposed to shoot it first to stun it).

Prime is a masterpiece and I was really surprised how well Metroid went from 3D platformer to FPS and still retain the staples that make Metroid great.

Echoes was good too. Although I could never beat Emperor Ing and I tried to do it a lot of times before I gave up. Ended up watching the end of Echoes from a YouTube video.

Same for me. Exploration feels like it took a slight backseat since the area design was made more linear. Still a lot to find but doesn't feel like an immersive experience, instead favoring something more "grand and epic" for a finale.

I agree w this assessment. Im playing it again right now and it kinda feels like a big-budget action flick as opposed to a bonafide metroid game. big halo influence in 3.

I definitely felt this as well and I barely even played any halo

I honestly do not think 3 is a good game. I think it's worth playing just as the conclusion of the series but the combat and difficulty is laughable at nearly all points and the level design is completely unmemorable

oh nooooo, I wouldnt say that. I think the GFS Valhalla is one of the most memorable moments in the trilogy. I also think bryyo is pretty rad. the other locations, outside of maybe phaaze, are all pretty lackluster though. they could have had something with elysia, but it ended up being generic steampunk trash, which is lamentable.

Theres no denying it falls quite a bit short of the first two, but there are a couple of parts that really shine. its ok in my book, but not much more.
