unwarranted? the texas panhandle and Oklahoma got their asses kicked just last week(The Area's affected are still dealing with flooding issues as we speak)

and there have already been 459 tornado's reported this month alone

For a lot of people, it is nothing to be concerned about. The world doesnt stop because of rain and snow. Lots of people still have to go to work, and move on with their lives. Youre life is very different then most people. Other people have to go to work everyday, even in a storm. So, not everyone has time to be controlled by the weather. Or time to freak out every time the news reports something. Especially when it has nothing to do with them...

none of us can control the weather so the best we can do is plan around it

you gotta have backup plans for when the weather gets crappy and what you were gonna do is now canceled

it's the one facet of our lives that we cannot change no matter what and i think some people just don't like to acknowledge the weather knowing how helpless it makes them feel when it does something they don't like

it makes them feel powerless and so to avoid that feeling they put weather at the back of their mind and do their best to even avoid a situation where the weather would be a discussion piece

I had a traumatic experience when i was younger and haven't been the same since....it's not something i can just get over that's the sad part

What plans have you canceled, NMB?

I was trying to hold my laughter back while reading this topic, but I lost it on this post

Hurricane florence knocked my power out for a week and we didnt prepare at all. Im alive and well. We grilled out every night so what meat we had wouldnt go bad. Put the grill in the shed and left the doors open while grilling. Put out several buckets to catch water so we could flush toilets as needed.

Well we did prepare in one way. We made a lot of ice before hand bagged it and filled our deep freezer so it would take longer for shit to thaw out.

Other than that I got drunk

Well, most people cant just replan work. So, when the weather happens like it does everyday, it doesnt always matter. If I called my job and told them I cant come in because the weather is bad, they would laugh and tell me to come in. If I didnt, Id be fired. So, weather doesnt always matter to people. As for plans, most people have backups. Not always specifically because of weather. Though, some do. And even then, it doesnt always matter. My friends and I went to Six Flags one day, even though it was suppose to rain. We hung out for a few hour before it rained. Then we went into the arcade for a few minutes and played DDR. By the time we finished, so had the rain. If we had canceled, we would have been bored, all because of rain that lasted 5 minutes... Anyway, they are lots of plans that wont be affected by a little weather. And even for plans that would, you might not get your money back unless the other place cancels, depending on what you're trying to do. Nor does everybody have money to always set up multiple contingency plans. I think you just need to understand weather isnt the most important thing in everybody elses life. Ive mentioned it multiple times, but youre different than a lot of people, NMB. People have different lives. And cant act the same way you do...

Yeah my mom had problems with one employer because due to weather cops where not allowing people across this bridge she had to to get to work. She finally convinced her boss that if he wanted her at work bad enough to come get her. He found out she wasnt lying cops wouldnt let him by

you say the weather isn't the most important thing in everyone else's lives while people in Oklahoma are currently trying not to drown because of what came through this past week....

there's a difference between A Minor Annoyance(just some showers)and extreme flooding that makes leaving one's house almost impossible and traveling roads just as difficult

if weather had zero effect on our lives then we wouldn't need weather apps we wouldn't need weather reporters

but we do because of events like the kind that i just mentioned

if you were there You Probably would have died trying to drive to work and found yourself in a watery grave

all because "Muh Job's gonna fire me if i don't plow my car through this like a river boat"

Other things as well. Like getting sick. You can take all the precautions you want but unless you live in a bubble chances are you are going to get sick multiple times in life.

And I'll throw in freak accidents as well.

I remember being a tad nervous to drive one day because I had just watched a video of a ton of accidents where one of the drivers couldnt have done anything to avoid it. Like one example being dude was going adound a curve he couldnt see around and boom another driver was in the wrong lane and plowed into him
