Knights of Sidonia getting delisted in a month.

It's yet another bland Polygon Pictures joint that fails to stand out at all.

But it was Netflix' first go at original anime so it got people talking.

It's kind of noteable as it's the first time Netflix has delisted an original anime of theirs, so there's some upsetting precedent considering how their original stuff is barren on the bluray market. One day, Devilman Crybaby could just be gone. Knights of Sidonia is a rare exception where there actually is a home release, though.

And of course it's bland, it's Polygon Pictures. They aren't capable of making something that doesn't make you want to fall asleep visually.

They made fucking GODZILLA a snoozefest. I don't think it's controversial to say that trilogy blows.

I was gonna say that Ajin was pretty solid, but that's not on the visuals. It's also bland fuckin' gray and brown, and the Ajin themselves look TERRIBLE. The animation was fairly strong.

Knights of Sidonia was one of the first anime I watched and I liked it quite a bit.

On another note, since I'm sort of getting back into anime I dug out the sheet with my old backlog. Of the shows I've started that I want to finish (which includes a bunch where I only watched one episode) my backlog is 853 episodes. Guess I better get started!

Watched Hina Logi. Very cool show! Seems like something @Robazoid would've watched (did you?). Basically a cute girl slice of life but it takes place in a cool world with magic and has some no-stakes action (practice matches between the girls). The world's really cool, though apparently the series it's spun off of is shit (thankfully this show treats itself like the original didn't exist). I've always loved shows that mix slice of life with other elements, and this is no exception to that. There are a couple excellent characters too, especially Yayoi. She's kinda like a typical ojou-sama character who's really arrogant, but she's incredibly kind and friendly and always works hard for everyone else's sake and doesn't treat anyone like they're inferior to her. Arrogant ojou-samas don't usually get to be part of the main cast in the first place, so having her around so much was awesome. The animation is also excellent, with some battle scenes that look way better than anything you'd see in an actual action show.

The one thing that holds it back is that it often focuses on regular SoL antics, which... aren't great. When it tries to put a fun twist on them, the SoL stuff is fantastic, but in some later episodes you basically see scenes that I've seen before in a bunch of shows, and the execution isn't even very good. I wish it tried as hard the whole time as it did when it was at its best.

I'm reading up on and skimming a RAW of HiEvo2, and legitimately I don't think there's any anime franchise that's been more shat on by followup releases and content than Eureka Seven. This is a nightmare.

I've never regreted asking for more content for a series I love in my life.

The Konosuba movie is essentially being made in place of a third season.

Or, to word it a different way, a third season of Konosuba would cover the exact same material as the movie (volume 5 of the LN), and the volume 6 on top of that (assuming the same 2 volume per season pacing as s1 or s2). "Getting the movie" is not a bonus here, even if it's going to be good.

Anyways if you want to make that argument just point out she (And Yunyun <_<) got the spinoff novels.

Darkness doesn't need a movie when she already has my heart.
