Nope. This policy of having zero accountability for any of your actions that the left is pushing is fucking garbage. It's not society's job to pay for your poor choices.

This right here.

It is calculated risk - same as playing the stock market, buying a house, etc.

If you aren't willing to take the risk and be in debt - then don't do it.

College isn't for everyone, and most of those with debt shouldn't have gone in the first place. It sucks, but actions have consequences.

Yeah. Society should not have to pay because some angry feminist decided she wanted to major in lesbian dance therapy or useless gender studies just so she could complain about there not being enough women in STEM fields... instead of joining a STEM field.

I'm not sure of the specifics. I'm in favor of student load debt forgiveness in general... There is the emotional part of me that wants to get upset over silly degrees, but I know that is generally just exaggerations and largely nonsense claims. Personally I'd only be willing to accept forgiveness for accredited degrees at public schools.

That doesn't sound like something that would be accredited and hopefully no one would ever consider a valid degree.

No

1. It's not enough. We need full student loan forgiveness.

2. We don't need free college, we need strict university reform.

Yeah I do, despite being someone who already repaid my student loans

I think about people like my brother in law or my nieces who would really benefit of the opportunity at higher education without having to take on the burden of so much debt. Having an overall more educated populous would benefit society in countless ways.

Why not both? Why the fuck did I have to take trigonometry and algebra for my Associate's degree, which was Criminal justice/theories of criminal law? The math doesn't benefit me at all. The department of education says I need it

Also, my bachelor's degree was supposed to be 30k. My student loans that I took out and have to pay back is 35k. I still had to pay out of pocket to complete my degree (another 5k). Various fees and a class I was supposed to take at the beginning of my studies was their claim. Just stupid.

There's no reason schools should be 50k a semester. NONE.

Yeah, I mean I'm sure it certainly should be both. I double majored in Accounting / Logistics. The day I have an interviewer say "Well, you're qualified for the job, but since it says here that you took Physical Geology, we'd like you to tell us how igneous rocks are formed" is the day I'll apologize for bitching about all the filler courses.

I used my GI Bill, so I didnt have to take out any student loans for school. I dont know how anyone can look at the state of costs for universities nowadays and not think it's a total fucking scam.

Yeah but there's no reason for them to be so expensive either

Columbia is the most expensive public school, starting at nearly 30k per semester. Just ludicrous

With the government covering the cost of public schools I think thered be a strong incentive to trim the fat. If somebody wanted to major in womens rights or Klingon theyd likely need to get financing for a private school.

Lmao

Guys, opposing this shit doesn't make you intelligent, every single plan to come out of AoC and Bernie is a proven plan that works in more developed countries.

In this case it's a fix to an exclusively American problem.

And if you would elect Bernie president already, maybe forget about sjws and Mexicans for a second, we would literally take all the money we waste on war and spend it on our own people. Just ignore all the shit Obama, Hillary, Trump, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox tells you. They are literally all funded by military contractors and private interests. I know you like them, but I don't care.

Anyone else and you're spending the same money on war.

This isn't complicated.

And if any of you were slightly competent at logical argument, you would bring up the fact that we already tried free college and it failed massively, and actually screwed up the system, because colleges realized they could charge whatever they wanted and inflated their prices to hell.

Instead I'm arguing with people who think the lower class consists of sjw pink haired girls, and are stuck on that line of thought.

So we have to be leaders and visionaries, and find ways to make it work. Like Euuurope. Or throw a tantrum and demand that we can never do it

Is it the best option? Maybe, maybe not. Is it better to actually try coming up with a solution to a very serious, growing problem than to stick your fingers in your ears and scream about responsibility as though that makes the problem any smaller? Absolutely. Sucks for the people who managed to avoid debt or pay theirs off already, but it's just not practical to demand that nobody ever solves problems you've already worked around. That's not how the world gets better.
