Anyone else have this problem? I almost never go through a whole clip.

I reload so much it's actually kind of a hindrance.

I tried to solve it by not reloading but then die in firefights because my gun runs out of ammo at the wrong time

Losing what's left in the magazine when you prematurely reload would be a pain, but I think at least one game exists which does exactly that.

Yeah I do it all the time, like I'll kill an enemy and then reload and kill another enemy and reload and it's obviously not the right way to do it >_>

I can think of a few. The first one I played was Hostile Intent, a really scary Half-Life 1 mod (scary because it didn't have a HUD or kill indicators so unless you were checking in with your teammates periodically you wouldn't know who was alive or dead >_>)

ghost recon island thunder did that, magazines didnt get tossed but you would eventually get back around to the one with only 5 rounds in it.

Reloading is annoying

The new Doom didn't have reloading and the world didn't end

I used to have the opposite problem, where I wouldn't reload even when I was down to a single round in the magazine (technically, the chamber). Now, I reload when I am certain I won't be left open to an attack. If I expend my rounds during a fight (such as in Borderlands), I often switch over to another weapon.

I only do it during more competitive play. Many times I've almost killed someone, but ran out of ammo, giving them the chance to drop me.

I always reload if I have the time to do so.

Would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it

In CoD MW Remastered there's a gun called the BOS14 that does more damage with the first five bullets of each clip. I reload it constantly.

That's me.

The worst part was when I was playing Borderlands and there were weapons that you can throw when you reload to do elemental effects and I was so annoyed at my compulsion to reload and seeing all those weapons being flung.

I think those weapons were deliberately designed for compulsive reloaders.

Battlefield 2. America's Army also actually cycled through magazines and would keep track of the bullets in each one

I wish more games would do this tbh, it's a good mechanic for survival horror games in particular

well, if the game worked like real life where you don't instantly add the unused ammo from the discarded clip back to your supply, but rather had either a half-empty clip in your bag until you spent a minute putting new rounds into it, or lost the ammo entirely, no one would compulsively reload.

Some games remember how much you had in your clip, then as you run out of ammo, you start reloading through a sequence of old clips with 15 bullets or whatever. I don't remember which it was but I remember that being a cool detail.

The reload times on LMGs in Battlefield helped me break this habit since I play support mostly.
