Just listened to Rick's talk with Rob on the red carpet and he's even more egotistical than on the show that really soured me.

I love seeing the Reddit fans (and Sucks fans) so pissed off about this ending. I'm actually extremely happy with Chris winning, partially because I think Chris played amazingly upon coming back into the game, but moreso because he defeated two overhyped douchebags (Rick and Gavin) who made shitty moves that got themselves into horrible positions, and would've still been praised as amazing players had they managed to win.

Hell, Rick got voted out in large part because he opted to target Chris in episode three, rather than sticking with the guy who was with him in targeting Kelley. That just gave all the power to Wardog/Kelley/Lauren going into that swapped tribe. Dumb move.

this was definitely the worst season i have tuned into watch live every week at best. awful, awful season, especially following david v. goliath which was really good and we ended up with the worst winner in survivor history to go we with possibly the worst season in history and definitely the worst gimmick/twist.

at least i enjoyed bbcan7, some people were down on that season but I generally enjoyed it, at least the mid to endgame was great with two great players in the final 2 imo.

Still give me Chris over Bob. Yeah Chris was voted out but he probably did more to help himself in that finale than Bob did his entire game. And then next on my list is Fabio and Fabio's immunity run is more impressive than Chris coming back and playing an idol at 5. I think if Chris wins at 5 then Chris could go over Fabio but other than that really not much there.

I think the formula for me is 2 immunity idols = 1 immunity win and so that's why Ben is above Fabio.

I got EoE at 33. It wasn't great but it was woefully boring (One Wolrd) and it never had a nasty moment's that made me dread watching like 4 of my bottom 5. (Redemption Island, Thailand, Nicaragua, All-Stars)

Between the show and the fan base I haven't seen anyone that overhyped Gavin. I'd sooner call him underhyped than overhyped.

Its more retroactive overhype. Rick lost, and fans are salty about Chris so they look at Gavins FTC performance and realize that the guy theyve been claiming did nothing, for several weeks, perhaps played a more deserving game than Chris. He didnt. He was a modern Survivor player, constantly trying to orchestrate blindsides (at strategically inopportune moments), and Im glad he failed.

As for season rankings, after a quick ranking, I think the ending of the season salvages it up to 29th.

I don't know how but I both agree and disagree with your take. I think he was a little better strategically than what you're saying and what you the show showed but at the same time you're 100% correct about the Rick thing and I can get behind it. 29th isn't bad! All because of Chris's finish?

EoE is a lot like SP for me, in that its a terrible season, but the ending flips the script SO hard that it elevates the season over bad seasons that have the boring, terrible, obvious ending.

Theres just something so satisfying about the producers stuffing twist after twist into a season to spice things up, because they (perhaps rightfully) dont respective the intelligence of the fans, and those twists lead to the worst ending they could possibly imagine.

So I changed the way I do my winner rankings, well this is the way I have been saying I've wanted to rank where I take the average of two rankings, how well they played and how much I liked them. There were a couple of surprised but overall I like the list that came out of it.

On the subject of winner likability, its amazing to me that Chris is the most outright satisfying winner for me since Natalie Anderson, almost ten seasons ago.

It has to do with a long series of winners who were either awful characters (Mike, Adam, Sarah, Ben, Nick), were expected winners to already bland and awful seasons (Jeremy, Wendell), or they werent terrible, but they were disappointing compared to like, everyone else in the finale (Michele). Its less Chris being amazing (and I think hes extremely likable, and that finale performance was awesome), and more everyone else being bad.

i'm one of those super casual fans who still has seen almost every episode of this show but doesn't really engage with any of the community or social media. i have zero clue how any of the players are outside the show, and i don't really care enough to look into any of it. i only get a glimpse of the hardcore fanbase whenever i catch the topics here (lot of y'all sound miserable btw). my final thoughts are as follows:

i didn't really truly care for anyone this season except for victoria who low-key was killin it, and rick's antics were the only thing that was amusing...

up until the finale which yo giga chad chris my boy stepped up. what a great last three days. definitely the one thing that i'll remember this season for.

eoe was only really good for showing more humanity out of the cast. i can take it or leave it honestly.

my god lauren, serving up some looks on this finale goddamn

all in all, this was a pretty mediocre season! i don't have overall season rankings because i have a hard time remembering most of them! but this was mostly forgettable too!

i'm not a big rob or sandra fan but those big-ass busts of them on the beach had me howling so fuck it i'm in for one more dumb season of this dumb show.

eoe was a twist i hope they never do again, but at least we got 13 extra episodes of reem because of it

You know, I wonder if the edit of Rick was chosen so a) Chris looks like he got a big win, b) so we weren't thinking Gavin or Julie really deserved it, and c) so that the viewers would "understand" that coming back from EoE could give you a really good player.

Knowing Chris won and knowing they couldn't really edit him, it makes more sense for why Rick was so paramount- he's a stand-in as "the EoE returnee."

They had to paint him to be as big of a threat as everyone was making him out to be so that when Chris defeated him it felt like a major accomplishment and to me and my casual parents it feels like beating Gavin in firing making was the straw that broke the camel's back in the win. Because otherwise that's a big showy move on Gavin's resume. And then Chris can only rely on his relationship with the other people who went to EoE

Now that I've had a day to think about it, 34 is maybe a LITTLE too low for this one. That unexpected ending was pretty wild and justified the twist (which, as a one-time thing, I didnt hate.)

But it's still bottom 10. I'll say 30, which is where I predicted it would land.
