I mean, you think that. But some of Trumps most bipartisan support (however temporary) came from him showing strength in the form of military force. Thats what nationalism does: create an enemy and attack them, making it so your detractors either have to willingly accept you as the good guy, or come across as monsters for supporting the people fighting your own troops.

it's interesting how schizophrenic trump worshipers have become by now. in his cartoon, garrison depicts trump as some kind of brave hero doing the right thing against all odds but in his accompanying text he's like "boy, i sure HOPE trump is able to resist the pressure of his staff and won't go to war!" why not support someone who actually has principles and wouldn't be "swayed by his staff," like ron paul? hell, garrison mentions paul in the text so it's not like he's unaware that there are politicians besides trump he could be gushing over.

also worth noting how often trump supporters will put the blame on someone else when trump does something dumb (because obviously trump is completely flawless and can do no wrong). garrison: "his staff is pressuring him to do bad things!" molyneux: "he can't do the right thing because his supporters aren't supporting him hard enough!" but of course, when AOC does something these people perceive as "dumb," they will say it's entirely her own fault because she's obviously a stupid idiot.

It's not schizophrenia as much as Trump being the only politician US citizens who are right of centre can cling to. The only one with actual power, I mean. It's clear that Ron Paul is much more principled, but sadly he has no power.

Gallup had it at 72% the first day of invasion. Which was higher than most polling leading up to it (running in the 50-60 range).

So Americans actually became more supportive when the killing actually started.
