This game is fun. I just finished the tutorial area (I assume) with the four shrines. I talked to the king and got the glider. Any spoiler free tips?

So far Ive enjoyed the way you can do funny shit in combat. Cutting down trees to hit people, throwing shit at them, etc. its hilarious

Mainline the story until you get to the second village at least.

Youll miss some gameplay systems that add so much to your quality of life until you do

This thread gives me an excuse to post this vid that was going around Twitter. SUPER SLIGHT SPOILERS

https://twitter.com/negaoryx/status/1075864711554461698?s=21

Streamer got 95 hours into the game and THEN found the basic combat tutorial Shrine, which is supposed to be hard to miss if you follow the quests

Got to Kako village. Helped Hestu and made sure to hit all the shrines I found on the way there.

Also I found some giant rock dude on top of the dueling peaks and he made me like 200 rupees.

Hestu is the most major thing I was referring to

My biggest complaint about the game is that youll never unlock inventory expansion unless you encounter him in that exact spot

You've likely figured this one out by now, but whenever something looks amiss (and especially if that something is metallic) check it out with magnesis and/or stasis.

The best way to reliably make rupees is to crack open gem rocks and sell the goodies. Try to hang on to some diamonds, though, and keep luminous stones too because there's a zora who will give you a diamond for every ten you trade him. Diamonds are worthwhile because they're useful for certain upgrades. Feel free to sell a few though.

Seek out Great Fairies!

Agreed. I went fully off the rails during my first playthrough and loved it, but you'll get useful stuff much faster if you generally stick to the main quests for the first 10-20 hours.

Then during my second playthrough, I got every Korok seed before stepping foot into a divine beast because I'm a psycho.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy. I love this game so much that despite just getting a Switch with Smash and Odyssey, I'm considering re-purchasing it on the new system and doing playthrough #3 before I start Odyssey for the first time.

Turn off all notifications for everything and spend as much time as i have in the game just finding everything.
Also, don't look anything up on the internet and avoid all conversations/videos/articles/nintendo botw based media.

I recently played this for the first time myself, it's a lot of fun. Best advice is to just take advantage of the fact that this game is the answer to every time you've played a game, seen something cool in the distance but been told you can't go there yet. Go places, do random shit, you'll probably stumble across five other things to look into every time.

my only tip is to avoid all spoilers. just play the game and discover things on your own. that's the true joy of this game.

I climbed the spiky tower and then did the shrine in Hateno. Shit took me like 10 minutes because I could not for the life of me get the motion correct to hop up the ball out of the little thing.

Fun trick on that one is to just flip the entire apparatus upside down. The bottom is just a smooth surface to roll the ball on

Yeah I agree to avoid any kind of spoilers, even minor ones. Going through that game nearly blind was an experience like no other.

Yeah, while there's so many neat little things I'd usually love to point people towards in BotW it's better to experience and explore it on your own IMO.
