I went fully off the rails during my first playthrough and loved it, but you'll get useful stuff much faster if you generally stick to the main quests for the first 10-20 hours. Then during my second playthrough, I got every Korok seed before stepping foot into a divine beast because I'm a psycho. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
