26 y/o Florida Tramp, Lauren Michelle Myres, a social worker has been sentenced to 6 years in the slammer for having Sex with a 17 y/o boy she ADOPTED!!

She was busted earlier this year and admitted to having sex with the victim 7-8 times between March and May.

She was assigned to his case while working at the Family First Network and they both had sex almost IMMEDIATELY after the adoption was finalized

Police got the tip off from an anonymous person and when questioend by police, she says she knew it was wrong and allowed it to continue to anyway and even told the kid it was illegal knowing full well the kid was 17, which is underage.

The boy told polic ehe did not believe their relationship was wrong because "he was not being raped and was about to be 18"!!

Attorney Bill Bishop said "I can't say i've ever seen a case like this where an adoption occurred and sex occurred shortly thereafter. Tehre have been cases of older women having sex with young boys across the country but this is the first i've ever seen"

She will be a registered sex offender and will spend 6 years in prison and will be on probation for 4 years and undergo sex offender counselling

She graduated with a criminal justice degree in University of West Florida and worked at Family First for over 2 years

Yeah, that's extremely fucked up. She didn't apply for adoption, she went shopping for an adolescent sex partner.

All the more reason why single people shouldn't be allowed to adopt.

No because Floridas AoC is one of the few states that actually has an AoC of 18.

Stranger? You are aware there is a lot to the process of adoption right? During this phase everything will be checked out out to see if the person who is wanting to adopt is fit to do so. In theory a 26 year old wanting to adopt someone so "old" is unusual but at the end of the day providing they can provide a good home for the kid/teen that's all that matters. Of course having sex with anyone that you've been allowed to adopt is wrong no matter the age but I wouldn't automatically assume that folk who adopt want to have sex with the kids/teens they adopt no.

Honestly, she should have just waited until he was 18. I mean, it's still kinda screwed up when you think about her having sex with her "son". But at least he'd be legal then, and it's not actually incest.

Also, pretty sure he would consider a great birthday present.

Not really, no. For starters, singles tend to undergo greater evaluation than couples so, generally speaking, the kids *should* be safer; in this case it was also a social worker so... not much to be done there. In general, couples who adopt *have* been known to abuse their wards as well (the previously mentioned Woody Allen being a great case-in-point). There are a lot of valid reasons not to allow single people to adopt, but this is more of an outlier.

It can happen. The most common reason would be a sibling getting a younger sibling out of a bad house or if the parents died. But if an aunt or uncle came forward wanting to adopt instead it gets trickier. Because then you have to argue who would be the better parent.
