The only one I've actually beaten was Birth By Sleep and I liked that one a lot

Depends on how much time you have to play. At the very least, play 1, 2, and Birth by Sleep. While you can do the others as well, a synopsis on them would probably work just fine (hell, the Days and Codes movies are basically just a long-winded synopsis of those games). You should play 0.2 as well since it's so short.

Maybe, depending on how much you play each day. I think it's pretty easy to go over twenty hours per game. Since there are five games per collection (plus one smaller one in 2.8), that's at least one-hundred hours, but likely many more.

Eh, Days and Re:Coded are cutscenes in the collection, KHUX is a mobile game, but the movie I would imagine tells you most of what you need to know. If he doesnt bother with all the optional content, he should have plenty of time.

You can do it, but you're going to ger super burned out. Especially by the time you get to Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance since you essentially play the whole game three/two times respectively.

With the cutscenes, that's an easy 25 to 30 hours each for 1, 2, and BBS. With Christmas break coming up, I can see you getting through one game easy enough. Not all 3 by the time the third drops. And I say 3 because those are the most important ones by far.

Yeah, but Days is only really interesting for showing what Riku was doing between 1 and 2 and making some of the Org. XIII more likeable. Coded is pointless except for the final scene. Back Cover (the X/Chi movie) is only really important because it shows off a couple new McGuffins that will probably come into play for 3.

Chain of Memories is important, but again, a brief synopsis is fine. 90% of the game is a worse version of KH1.

That was such a miserable grind, holy shit.

Probably not, TC. I mean, that's less than a week per game, so you'd have to play like nonstop.

You can prob do it if you just watch the movie versions of the ones with movies, but even then... yeesh.

I had to come to the realization a few years ago that the series has simply passed me by. Catching up on all the non-numbered games would be a fairly daunting task even if I was super-enthused to play them, which I'm not; the more I hear about KH's story outside 1 and 2, the less and less I become interested in the franchise (needless to say, sitting through a plot synopsis isn't going to rekindle my interest either). 2 was already starting to go off the rails in a bad way, but some genuinely fun / groundbreaking set pieces helped keep the game enjoyable. Can KH3 deliver moments that will wow my 35-year-old self the way the 1,000 Heartless battle wowed my 22-year-old self? Can I put up with whatever the story has become long enough to experience them? I honestly and quite mournfully doubt it.

Unfortunately, if you've only played 1 and 2 going into 3, I think it'll be just about impossible to understand the story.

Play 1, watch Re Chain of Memories, play 2, watch Days, play BbS, watch ReCoded, play DDD, play 0.2 and watch the weird mobile shit

Easily doable if you play on lower difficulties and don't go for 100%, I'm almost done with KH2 now and I think I probably started too early

Good luck! Be sure to listen to podcasts or funny YouTube videos while you grind; that's what I did to make it more tolerable.

i finished all of the games in under a month lol
