It was the first thing I saw in my sub box this morning. I thought it was a joke at first considering they were talking about adding new march to their site a few weeks ago.

It sucks, but it's a sad reality I myself faced recently. Not all friendships can stand the test of time. Even if they are Super Best.

I legit cried a little when I watched that, been watching them almost since they started which was about 9 years ago, they were the last good Lets players honestly.

No more Scrublords/Fisticuffs, no more Shitstorms, no more hating on David Cage games, no more Crazy Talk. I know thyer'e gonna do their own thing like streaming but still.

I do not watch t.v.
there are too many camera angle shifts and everything is scripted

I watched them exclusively from like 2012-present.
they got me through some super rough times when I didn't have a job or a car because I had so many people in my family trying to move out at the same time.

watching them by themselves is such a bore, it feels like I'm forced to watch
growing/smoking weed and hanging out with the best friends was all I had
the shit storm was the highlight of my year
I have no social life and I am completely non-social ever since leaving high school and all my friends disappearing or moving on with their careers

again I cannot watch t.v. unless it's on a special occasion
it's just too plastic for me
I'm litterally going to use that extra hour in the day to shit post and deny the holocaust erm I mean play videogames.
this is sad

This is all so sudden too, they just released collabs with Achievement Hunter and it seemed fine there but I guess I know why Matt wasn't there now. They also stopped in the middle of an LP.

This just sucks. They're the one Youtube channel I watched every day and whenever I needed some background noise I'd throw on one of their old LPs.

Very entertaining guys so it's a shame to hear they're breaking up over friendship issues. Hopefully they can work it out in future when work isn't getting in the way.

This has been a long time coming, ever since Liam left (whether it is related) and Matt took a few months off about the same time it was fairly obvious there were tensions. Pat and Woolie held the channel together, still managing to get at least one video out a day despite being at 50% capacity. Then when Matt (who is the actual owner of the channel) came back it was clear he just wasn't in to it anymore, compared to his side channel which he put loads of effort into.

I could easily see Pat and Matt butting heads over that, which probably led to them not being friends anymore.

Then Woolie was desperate to get his own stream and podcast set up the past few weeks despite often saying his time is always short between personal commitments and the main channel.

Why he couldn't have just left is again, because he owns the channel he might not have wanted to sign it all over, whether that is out of pettiness or laziness is unknown. It could also be down to Matt signing a stupid contract with Machinima for up to 2025 or something like that, so there could be legal issues there if he wanted to sign it off to another member.

BTW, Woolie and Pat are still continuing the podcast under the name Castle Super Beast. Whether there will be one tomorrow at the usual time or they are going to let it rest awhile is unknown though.

Two Best Friends Play was the name of a YouTube duo named Matt and Pat best known for their comedic Let's Play videos, along with a number of other Let's Play series. The pair were occasionally joined in videos by their friends Woolie and Liam. After establishing a fanbase throughout 2010, the group was contracted by Machinima to make a full series of the videos. In 2014, mostly due to the continued presence of Woolie and Liam in the videos, the name "Two Best Friends Play" was rebranded to Super Best Friends Play, to accommodate for the two and separate which videos actually featured only Matt and Pat.

There's at least some rumor passing around implying that might be part of why they did the collab with AH in the first place - they might be angling to start an independent channel but attach it to the Let's Play network (the same way Cow Chop, Game Attack, and Kinda Funny are), or start their new venture fully under the Rooster Teeth umbrella from the beginning (the way AH, Funhaus, and Sugar Pine 7 are). So since they would have had to come in to talk to Geoff (and potentially Matt Hullum farther up the chain), they might have just filmed a few videos with them to get some content out of it.

Arguably they did. Arin/Jon fell apart long before Mat/Pat. They just chose to keep limping forward with half the channel's heart gone. TBFP chose to bow out respectfully.

the super best friends didn't start with matt and pat

it started with woolie and matt with scrublords where they'd talk about fighting games
then woolie couldn't get matt to come in for a game and pat showed up, so pat got introduced and he did stuff with matt on machinma

i have no idea why they aren't friends but pat is a really no nonsense kind of guy, he acts more like a cop then a videogame player

they probably knew they'd have to wait another 4 years for a david cage game and just said fuck it

Pat is probably the one who comes out best on this. He has the most followers on twitch (although Woolie is just starting out, so hard to judge on that) and is not that far off subs on Youtube if you take in to consideration it is literally just an archive channel.

I'd be fine with that. I like Matt but I don't feel like he's been really all that interesting for a while. The LP's I've watched recently have almost always been Woolie/Pat.

I will miss the Shitstorm though. Hopefully one of them does something similar. Maybe Pat and Peach/Paige can keep it going.

The Bloodborne playthrough (where he played alone for one episode) made me realize how great pat is solo. He's knowledgeable and funny. Matt and Woolie are okay, but I feel like they benefit from having a partner (i.e Reggie/Billy or Crymetina)

woolie is just eh i dunno what the appeal of him solo is

woolie and pats bloodeborne and ds2 playthroughs were boring
so was anything with liam besides maybe mgsV and mario rpg

matt and woolie were clever and brought t.v. tropes to the table
pat just curses at anything that moves
when he's by himself paige is the one that keeps conversation going

woolie and matt at least edit their solo LP's so their isn't too much dry air
