Actually not too bad. Never cared when Square dominated or when Link winning began been predictable, but this was had a few nice surprises.

Something like #4.

The contest itself was fine
But what makes contest good are the people
And we barely had people this time, and it got worse over time
I mean, just look how Zen carried the contest by himself, imagine we had 10 Zens here (each with his own special gimmick)

Personally, not that great for me for two reasons:

1) An early start time means I'm at work for the start/end of the matches which is always the most fun.
2) My bracket was dead pretty early which bummed me out

Honestly, probably my favorite contest we've ever had. Actually, probably only second to 2002.

2002 was just... magical in some ways. Just seeing your favorite characters for your first time was great. A lot of unexpected things happened, considering people really didn't have much of an idea of what was popular. Going through round 1, only a couple of times did we see a match get above 80%. Then Mega Man vs. Ms. Pac-Man happens, and Mega Man is leading Ms. Pac-man with over 93% of the vote.
I could not stop laughing. Next round, Mega Man is leading over 92% against Serious Sam. Again, I couldn't stop laughing. Sonic/Samus was the first nailbiter match we've ever had... experiencing a match like that for the first time was... again, magical. Seeing Mario take out Cloud and then Crono was... wow. And then Samus and Mega Man had that lead over Sephiroth for so long....! But they just had to lose it.

I think the double-elimination tournament at the end was a excellent addition. Tweak it to avoid as many rematches, and it'll be spectacular in the future.

2002 was the great one. The other ones are really a blur, though I did kinda dig villains.

Average to above average. The bracket ended up being solid, and the loser's bracket went better than expected considering it should have filled with redundant rematches, but we had more flips or at least twists than I thought were possible. A lot of the setups in the main bracket were genius, in particular Division 1, 3, Geralt's eightpack, and Division 7 were some of the most insane setups we've ever had. Allen took full advantage of the Noble 9 sans Seph not being in the main bracket as far as filling the voids go.

However, lack of communication from Allen (not even a word saying Mario vs. Samus II was legit despite Samus being on track to take the lead in the end?) on several fronts, and a completely bastardized match picture format with some of the all time worst pictures ever seen, and characters being mislabeled (TOAD IS NOT CAPTAIN TOAD, and how does Joker get a maskless picture and almost get billed as Ren Amimaya in a debatable match? The fact that his Smash Bros reveal had no mention of his real name and featured Joker almost entirely in his mask shows how ridiculous that was. This shit is inexcusable.) knock it down a few pegs.

Good for a character contest, but I'm more into game contests (or even a 'best console' contest), so slightly below average

This. It was tough making my Oracle picks. Half way thru I ended up half assing my predictions because I couldnt put much thought into them.

It was above average. Which is great! Breath of fresh air to have a new contest again. Had some legitimately great matches. I love the 7pm start time, even though it neutered our trends and made them all sorts of predictable.

The week off really hurt things in my eyes. It made me lose a ton of interest.
